My new hero– oops, I mean goat: Rory Sabbatini

Finally, someone with the guts to challenge Tiger Woods. Rory Sabbatini told the world he wanted a piece of Tiger, separating himself from the pack of those who quake around El Tigre, describing him as more beatable than ever.

Great copy. Only problem is, he didn’t back it up. We all love big mouths who can back it up. If you can’t back it up, you’re just a big mouth.

Final score at Ponte Vedra Beach:

Woods: 288.

Sabbatini: 289.

Even with Woods having a terrible – for him – tournament, Sabbatini couldn’t beat him.

Still, I have hopes. Sabbatini is still a very good player on a semi-hot streak, even if his fellow players don’t particularly enjoy playing with him – a poll showed him to be the least favorite playing partner among PGA Tour pros.

Imagine if it had been Phil Mickelson who had done the talking.

You gotta love the media. Rory makes some controversial comments which in my view were mostly true and the media pounds him. Then when pro golfers only respond to questions with "I tried as hard as I could" or "I hung in there" the media gets all upset that they can't get a good quote. If the media weren't first class Aholes they would be praising Sabbatini for saying something interesting.
