Watching Fed Ex Cup on TV takes some getting used to

Win a free golf book!

I remember being at East Lake earlier this year, when they were all excited about hosting the Tour Championship, the final tournament of the Fed Ex Cup.

Now, sitting here watching the Fed Ex Cup, I’m a little confused. It’s almost as if the tournament itself is forgotten. For example, Sergio Garcia and Zach Johnson are high on the leaderboard, but – there is no other way to say it – who the hell cares?

The only thing that’s really interesting is who is going to finish second in the Fed Ex Cup and win 30 gazillion dollars, and Garcia and Johnson went into the tournament with no chance.

Tiger Woods, who incidently is winning the tournament, has first place pretty much wrapped up.

You find yourself caring only about those players with a chance to win, or I should say finish second or third, few though they are.

I’m not sure if this is what East Lake had in mind.

Golf on TV has gotten as bad as the Olympics. During the Olympics in LA there was 48 minutes out of every hour for commercials...thank goodness for DVR and DVD for recording. Wow, see two golf shots, watch seven commercials!
