Golden Ocala is a great replica compromise

I’ve always been ambivalent about replica, or “inspired by” golf courses.

It can be fun playing copies of famous holes you’ve read about or seen on television or, if you’re lucky, played yourself.

The other school of thought is: I’ve paid my green fees, I want something original, something unique.

Golden Ocala Golf and Equestrian Center has a great compromise.

It has eight replica holes and 10 original works by noted Florida architect Ron Garl.

It is a testament to the course that Garl’s holes hold up as well as the replicas.

Look for the full review coming soon.

Playing a replica of "Amen Corner" would certainly qualify as "original and unique" to ME...since I rather doubt I'll be invited to Augusta anytime soon. Living in St Pete, I make the trip up to Ocala at least once a quarter to play the course - and it ALWAYS seems new and exciting, even after 6 or 8 rounds.

I played the Ocala course with a weekend travel league. Took first place in my flight and also won a greenie.

I enjoyed playing with you at "Rainbow Springs Golf & Country Club" in Dunnellon. When are you going to write the article ??

A brand new club a mile away is "Julliette Falls" a georgous course recently had a pro-am. You'd really enjoy this course. For a flyover go to www.julliettefalls.com
