Golf in Florida: Where golfers ride Harley Davidsons and the barbecue stinks

My favorite interstate exit in Florida is Exit 273 off I-95. You’ve probably seen it, or at least seen it advertised. All those billboards hawking the world’s largest Harley Davidson store.

You should see it sometime, even if you’re not a biker. It’s the store Harley fans must see in their dreams, acres and acres of beautiful, gleaming motorcycles, all made by the American icon. Every sort of Harley accessory you could think of.

There are other motorcycle shops there as well, and it’s sort of a gathering place for bikers. I was talking to one the other day, who told me he and two other buddies had ridden down from up north – to play golf.

“Where are your clubs?” I said.

“We rent them,” he said. “That way we can ride.”

Barbecue tip: the Daytona Pig Stand is almost right beside the Harley store, and does a brisk business with bikers.

Skip it.

They want you to pay your bill first, including the tip. I resented this and didn’t pay the tip, preferring to see what sort of job the waitress did.

Hard to tell. I never saw one.

Besides, the barbecue was bland.
