How’s this for an architectural pairing: Greg Norman and Sergio Garcia.

The fidgety Spaniard and the ambitious Aussie, who was known for blowing the big ones in his playing career.

I hope they don’t choke on the TPC of San Antonio. Norman and Garcia are designing one course of the 36-hole facility while Bruce Lietzke and Pete Dye are laying out the other. There’s another unlikely duo.

Four designers for two courses. This layout has a chance to be schizophrenic.

The first course by Norman and Garcia is to be called Cibolo Canyons and is supposed to be 7,500 yards long. The second, as yet unnamed, is scheduled for opening in 2009, while the first course is slated to be unveiled a year earlier.

There have been some delays on the project, which means a couple of planned tournaments have been canceled.

No wonder, with so many egos in the pot.
