Want to improve world economy and become a hot golf destination: Invite golfers
Thursday February 14, 2008 | 18:34:05 191 words, 2418 views
Golfers may dress blandly, like your high school class president, but they are always popular at countries trying to lure the kind of tourists who don’t smoke dope, stay at hostels and buy the cheapest beer. Bulgaria – Bulgaria! – is the latest poor country to understand this. The country says it/s going to make a push to attract golfers. Right now, the country only has three golf courses. This is a whole country we’re talking about here. But, they say there’s another 15 in the works. “…The regular tourist usually spends from 50 to 100 euro a day, while the golf tourist would rather spend from 400 to 500 euro,” Kuncho Kunchev, an investor in the Black Sea Rama golf complex in Balchik said in a press release. “Without quality golf courses, Bulgaria will remain a cheap destination.” Well, the world needs more golf destinations, but it also needs cheap places to visit. Maybe what we need is a really cheap golf destination. I vote for Bulgaria. Bulgaria should market itself as the Wal-Mart of golf destinations. I’m a cheap golfer, but I guarantee I’d spend more than 50-100 euros a day, on women and liquor alone. Comments:

Field trip! Tim, why don't you and the Cheap Bastard go check out what's available in Bulgaria right now? See if it's actually worth a plane ticket? Thanks!!

No chance. Confess, Tim, you don't actually know where Bulgaria is, do you? Anyway, with your previous posts on culinary matters, I don't think lentil stew would be to your taste. The wine is OK though - especially by the third bottle.
