Michelle Wie: same old story, making excuses already
The season is barely underway and already Michelle Wie is making excuses.
Wie, who had a season last year that could only be described as a travesty, said she will never be the same, physically, after her wrist injuries.
“I just accepted the fact that it’s never going to be 100 percent ever again,” Wie told the media before the LPGA’s Tours Fields Open in Hawaii. “After a major injury last year, it’s never going to be the way it was before.”
She’s 18 years old and ready to give it up because of injury?
One wrist was sore, the other fractured. I’m not downplaying the seriousness of a fractured wrist for a golfer, but this is a teenager we’re talking about.
I don’t buy it. By all accounts, the fracture wasn’t career-ending.
My guess is that this is a case of Wie trying to lower expectations. She doesn’t really need to do that.
I’m guessing after last year, most people’s expectations couldn’t be any lower.

Yeah, I do not remember Annika mentioning anything about her two ruptured disc before winning the last tournament. Michelle keeps talking the "think positive" game and then makes comments about her wrists. I think it would be easier to get the plans for the H-Bomb trigger mechanism than it would to get the real story about the "broken wrist."
And if Nike was unaware that she was thinking this and could say it, what do they think now? Not a great return on a $20 million investment.
Glad the needle is starting to move in women's golf again.
I wondered how long it would take for the whining to begin.
Since I'm boycotting Mario's blog, I'll write this here. Your analysis of Bubbles' round was spot-on. It's correct to say it was a good round; it would be foolish to deny that. It's also correct to say it was an anomalous round; as you pointed out, 4 fairways, 9 greens and 23 putts means that she was beating the percentages. And one thing about the percentages is that they always catch up to you.
There is something called deviation toward the mean. Her ball-striking was average (for her), but her putting and short game were obviously stellar. Thus, when the last two facets of the game come back down to Earth, her score will move in the opposite direction. I expect this to happen today.
Mind you, I'm not saying she will blow out her round, as it's entirely possible that her long game will be better today. However, what is for sure is that yesterday was an anomaly.
I'm boycotting posting to her blog. Writers generally don't like being withered on the vine.
Is it a small penis or is it u wanna be her? Bet she cries all the way to the bank. Have you seen how Mannika looks quite manly lately?
