Redneck Riviera goes to Augusta National for the Masters

A few of the fellas from my neck of the woods are taking on Augusta National, Boo Weekley, Heath Slocum and Bubba Watson.

They’re all from the Florida Panhandle.

Slocum doesn’t actually live there any more, but you never really leave Milton.

I’d like to be a fly on the wall at Augusta. I wonder what these guys think of the white bread and cheese sandwiches. I wonder what they think of all those old, moneyed aristocrats drinking mint juleps on the veranda.

I don’t think Bubba has ever sipped a mint julep, unless somebody poured one in a can of Old Milwaukee.

The Panhandle, especially around the Milton area, is a football hotbed. Milton always has a good high school football team. I doubt their debate team is a national contender, but they love football like it was life or death.

They’re big galoots in the Panhandle. Big, raw-boned country boys who hit it a mile. Look at Watson and Weekley.

These are Milton golfers. Imagine what the football players look like.

Which reminds me.....

"I don't care if it rains or freezes, as long as I have my plastic cheeses". What are plastic cheeses, please?

You heard me sing!

Beautiful, huh?

It's "Plastic Jesus." It refers to the little plastic statues of Jesus that Southerners hang from their rear-view mirrows down h'yar.

You gave me a good laugh, Wendy, and I'm laughing WITH you, not AT you...

And I've heard THAT laugh, too, Tim.
You could have thrown in a "Y'all" for me, though.

Given Chris Baldwin's comments on your exquisite culinary taste, I'm sticking with plastic cheeses.

Chris eats with his fingers. I wouldn't count on him for advice on high cuisine.
