At least Sergio Garcia doesn't whine or blame someone else about losing the Barclay's, leaving that for Kenny Perry.

I was waiting for Sergio Garcia to blame the gopher. But, since the gopher or mole or whatever it was got him a free drop, I thought he would go looking elsewhere after his latest choke. To his credit, Garcia did not, after another choke, losing the Barclay’s to Vijay Singh in the first round of the — I still have a hard time saying this – “golf playoffs.” This was about as thrilling as golf gets, those two long-distance bombs Garcia and Singh traded; it was like two heavyweight fighters exchanging round-house rights and staying on their feet. And a bunch of people moved up and down in the new FedEx Cup system – great for everybody, right? Not quite. Kenny Perry, the most un-charismatic athlete ever to walk the face of the earth, whined that he doesn’t like the new system. Perry dropped from second on the points list to seventh after ending in a tie for 48th. Not surprisingly, Perry likes last year’s system, in which only earthquakes and Acts of Congress allowed players to move up or down the list. Golfers are so predictable. Comments:

Kenny Perry may not suit you in the excitement category, but I would much prefer my children emulate Kenny than most of today's professional atheletes. He works very hard at his job, donates large amounts to charity and stands by his word and commitments. I also think Kenny is more exciting than the Fedex Cup. I mean come on, did anyone even realize the thing started.
You make a good point: The PGA Tour didn't exactly go nuts this year advertising the FedEx Cup.

And let's not forget the self-imposed tithe of 5% that he gives back to his church, the golf course he built for his community, and his commitment to the lesser US events. Did he really whine? Was it high-pitched and mealy? Perhaps he just gave an opinion that was misunderstood.
As someone who was there, Kenny Penny definitely whined.
He's the biggest wimp in the history of golf and a horrible example for the rest of the U.S. Ryder Cup team. If a course is at all tough, Perry tries to find a way to get out of there. See skipping the British. And withdrawing from the PGA after an eye problem that suddenly materalized after he shot a 78 and went away within days. If Michelle Wie did anything like that she'd be crucified.
I am looking forward to Perry earning no
points in front of his hometown crowd.

I've got to say, I'm with Timothy on this one. Kenny Perry IS the most un-charismatic athlete ever to walk the face of the earth.
Please make him go away.
I am pretty sure that Kenny Perry missed 3.75 majors this year in order to have a low (good) scoring average. Luckily, he won't win the scoring title after his last few performances.
Perry is a great guy, so you people are so far off the mark it's not even funny. By the way, he skipped the British to honor commitments, and he did have an eye infection; he had just undergone eye surgery. Don't be an idiot.
I think the problem here is that most of you modern people are so corrupt that you have an aversion to the virtuous. What fellowship hath light with darkness?
Yes, that seldom performed Lasik eye surgery. And he suddenly felt fine again when the $10 million FedEx Cup started less than 10 days later.
I hate to say it Smails, but you're emerging as more than a Wie bit of a hypocrite. Imagine how you'd react if Wie did the same thing.

Let's say the Ryder Cup is coming down to the last match (a la Kiawah) and Kenny Perry is dead even with, let's say, Padraig Harrington. I wonder how many of these American whiners would be feeling some love for ole Kenny boy then?
Why all the Kenny Perry bashing? What could possibly motivate this? As various people have already pointed out, he is indeed the most boring person ever, but shouldn't this give you less to talk about? He's been playing well lately; why not just praise his good play - he isn't getting any younger, after all.
With regards to all comments of him 'whining' about the FedEx Cup - well, I whine about it too. Okay, it puts a lot of money in his pocket, so he shouldn't whine too much. But he is, after all, just giving an opinion - who cares what tone of voice it is said in? He's entitled to have an opinion, and if he doesn't think much of the FedEx Cup (just like everybody else, except Finchem), he is perfectly free to say so. I can't think of a more harmless golfer than Perry, so just lay off him. Talk about something more interesting.
Another thing.
Perry may have basically said, "the FedEx Cup is sh*t", but he said nothing along the lines of "I lost this week but it wasn't my fault", a la Garcia.
Baldwin,
And you're starting to seem like an idiot. Infections aren't broken bones; they can disappear in a matter of days. Have you ever taken antibiotics, chief? Don't you have even rudimentary knowledge of medicine? Second, there is no equivalence between Perry and Bubbles? Does he have a history of doing such things? Why would he wait till he was 47 to look for excuses to drop out of events? The man has had an amazing year. That's what you should be writing about.
The Judge, giving it to Chris.
Chris will come back, just you wait! Chris don't play. Leave a comment: |
