Memo to Donald Trump: Stay out of Winged Foot fiasco
You might have heard how Winged Foot, one of the most famous courses in the world, a layout that has hosted multiple U.S. Opens, is being sued by a homeowner who claims the lives of his family, including the dog, are being threatened by errant golf shots.
It’s ludicrous, of course. What’s even more ludicrous is that a State Supreme Court Judge issued a temporary restraining order against the club, forcing it to shut down the hole in question, the par-3 sixth hole on the East course.
Donald Trump is a member there, and he was quoted in the New York Times as saying he might “visit the gentleman,” referring to restaurant owner Anthony Pecora, the man who is bringing the lawsuit.
“I’d love to go and mediate it,” Trump told the paper.
First of all, if Trump came to me and tried to throw his weight around, I’d throw him out of my house. This guy thinks he has the profound respect of the world. News flash: He doesn’t.
Still, I’m in agreement with him, in theory. I simply cannot believe people would buy a home on a golf course and then complain about errant golf shots.
These sorts of cases crop up from time to time, and the golf clubs almost always win. Still, it’s caused one of the country’s best courses to become a 17-hole course.
I hope the club, after it wins the lawsuit, turns around and sues Pecora. They should also tell Trump to butt out.

This is the Tim McDonald doctrine: Anything Tiger Woods or Donald Trump does is wrong.
It's not like Trump said he was going to visit the guy in the way a New Jersey mobster visits someone. He's going to sweet talk him, commiserate and reach a solution everyone can live with. Trump tries to handle things with 1-on-1 interaction rather than making every little thing go to court.
America could use a lot more of that approach - not less.
I'm trying to bring the truth and the light to readers, while you are simply star-struck by people you've seen on TV.
Yeah, Trump handles things "1-on-1." As long as he has his entourage to back him up.
You'll have to pardon me, now. I have to go put in my teeth and my hairpiece.
Is it true that you'll be taking Wilfred Brimley's place in that diabetes commercial?
Also, I fell and broke my hip.
The guy must be such a idiot though.
For what it's worth - I'd give Timmy Mac's left nut to play Winged Foot - even 17 holes.
