It's nice to see Crenshaw playing some good golf, but we must remember that even his victory in the 1995 Masters was a minor miracle. Mid-forties is a very old age to win a major, and the fact that his lifelong mentor and friend Harvey Penick had passed away just days earlier, made that win even more amazing.

Let's enjoy it while it lasts. Still, I don't know why the oldies insist on coming to the Masters every year when we can all see that they're past it. It's kind of selfish. Gary Player still thinks he's the man, that he can win; when he made a birdie on his first hole of the tournament, I was a little disappointed, because I knew that it was going to get drastically worse from there on.

It did.

Some of Bill Coore's genius must be rubbing off on Ben. When he wins on Sunday, Hootie Johnson will consult Mike Keiser on how to replace the azaleas and dogwoods with gorse and dunes.
