Augusta National has lost the ability to tempt golfers to get into trouble as well as to tempt golfers in trouble from attempting the spectacular to get out of trouble. The open, largely treeless, roughless course with tricky greens the main defense of par is what created so many thrilling Masters. Yesterday's boring tactical march to victory by one of the game's established elite is only the first of many such Sundays. I bet Bobby Jones and Alistar MacKenzie are furious; looking at the Neilson ratings I bet the advertisers are too.

David, as I said, it's a matter of semantics. You originally stated that Tiger faded in the final nine holes. Then you said it was already over by then. If Woods faded, so did every other player in the field. Tim Clark pitched in for birdie on 18. Some fade. Tiger birdied on 18. Another fade. Phil bogeyed 18, but according to your way of thinking, that was a sweep to victory. Incidentally David, why would you say that you "hate" Phil? From all accounts he is an all-around nice guy, loyal and accommodating to his fans and supporters, a good husband to his wife, and a good father to his children, as well as a world-class golfer, hardly deserving of hatred from anyone. And danny even thinks he's an "evil bastard" who has sold his soul to the devil. What's with you guys?

I guess you are thinking of basketball or football. Trash talking, waving things in the crowd to distract the players, maybe a fight will break out on the 18th. As the camera's zoom in on someone getting their head spit open with a putter would boost ratings. Yeah! Guys like you really go for that stuff don't you. Golf is a gentlemens game, not street thugs. If you like violence, Follow a violent sport, and leave golf alone.

Well, David, if you call four birdies in the final six holes fading, I guess it's a matter of semantics. Woods has by far the best win percentage in all events of anybody now active on tour. Yet even he is not batting .250 in wins. Tiger was six strokes back with six holes to play. If he had made the two eagle putts, that still wouldn't have been enough. Woods birdied three of the last four holes. What, in your opinion, should he have done or could he have done,to prevent his FADING at the end of the Masters'?

But the 2005 Masters, well, that was pure theatre.

Danny, I found it hard to watch as well. Painful stuff.

Alex, Tiger did fade. Otherwise he would've won. All other things being equal, Phil Mickelson can't hold a candle to Tiger. No one can, really.

danny, Please explain yourself. What are you talking about? Why would anyone say that Phil is "an evil bastard?" And JJ Redick, too? Is that supposed to be some sort of inside joke? Lester Hinson, you seem to know what he means. Clue me in if you can.
