Tim understands only slightly more about golf than basketball. You vastly overestimate the sensitivities of the average NBA fan if you think any of them were offended by Cuban. It's a show...and Mark is essential. He's simply the ownership counterweight to Jack Nicholson or the other thousands of fans who go to these games and think their important by shouting non stop obscenities...harassing player's wives..etc
The NBA is low class entertainment a notch or two above wrestling and roller derby...Check out the pre game intros...the "cheerleaders."
No...they may hate Cuban...but they'll come to the next game their home boys play against the Mavs just to see if he's there. It's money in the bank.

I agree totally. I think Dallas is a good team and fun to watch, but Cuban made me pull for Miami even though we (LA Fans) do not like to see Shaq win anymore. I like Cuban less than Shaq and was glad Cuban's team lost.

I prefer my NBA owners annoying and passionate over fat-catty and smug. By all accounts, the players love playing for him, and I appreciate his willingness to attack the league. He's an immature dork who lacks common sense at times-- and it's refreshing. He also put together a hell of a basketball team.

It is weakness to NOT complain about poor officiating and let obvious inconsistencies go on unaddressed.

If there were SUBJECTIVE calls in golf, you'd think differently. The NBA's product could have two different outcomes by two different officiating crews.

Things are improving and "whining" is still justified sometimes regardless of your knee jerkified "sounds childish" reaction to it. The NBA now spends 1 mil a year to analyze the problem - it took whining to do that.

Withhold from a business owner the right to improve his product? Go play another round - some people have work to do.

As I say, fans are allowed to be blowhards. Still, one of my original premises holds: it is weakness to complain about the officiating. The Heat beat the Mavericks, not the officials.

Having said that, I would agree that the NBA refs tend to have a bias toward superstars. Shaq can break a guy's jaw and not be called for it.

Also, you have to ski across the court to be called for traveling.

I agree with this so much! Game 6 is what you meant but you can't honestly say officials didn't give the Mavs one last try with 5 seconds left? NBA is crap! That should have never been called that would have given the mavs one last chance...CRAP! Just like DWADE foul call with 1.2 seconds left to tie the game....CRAP! NBA stands for WWE!

"BTW - in game 7 the officials gave the Mavs one last chance to tie it by calling the ridiculous traveling call with 10 seconds, unfortunatley the Mavs could not capitalize given the home gift!"
