I predict more of the same pedestrian play from Ernie in 2007, especially if he stays on the Mickelson workout plan and diet he seems to be on. The "Big Sloth" seems to be a nice enough guy, but he has alwaysd been a bit of an underachiever, with all his talent and that sweet swing he should have won more majors. Sorry Patricia, but Ernie never really had the stones to beat Tiger anyway, his injury and new shape are simply predictors of his continued slide into golfing mediocrity.

Els came out of the gates strong in his first few events, but never got back to being the real Ernie. Most Tour players would be happy with $2.4 million in 18 events, while Ernie was disappointed, I'm sure. Mental struggles, mechanical struggles or, more likely, both. - but who knows for sure? One thing I do know is that golf was less exciting because of his struggles.
