In the latest installment of TravelGolf.com This Week, host Dave Berner and Chris Baldwin discuss Baldwin’s trip to Southern Dunes in Maricopa, Ariz., It’s an all-male golf club, but Baldwin says you shouldn’t judge the all-men’s club too harshly.

“It’s a private club, I can see they just want to do their own thing,” Baldwin says. “There’s a lot of women’s only places in the world.”

Tim McDonald talks about his trip to a club customizer, and how he was shocked to find out that his club shaft was designed for a ladies flex, making it too flexible for his swing.

“I always thought custom club fitting wasn’t that big of a deal, that it was overhyped and overrated,” McDonald says. “It was a complete surprise to me. It really opened my eyes.”

Finally, while Bill Wolfrum discusses the positives coming out of the LPGA’s first major, Ron Mon breaks down the challenges the men will be facing at the U.S. Open at Winged Foot in second major of 2006. Mon boldly pronounces Retief Goosen as a favorite. “He just plods forward and hits great shots.”

Also: Kiel Christianson gives his thoughts on the new Nike OZ Black T130 putter and Baldwin discusses golf in Houston.

A smooth, silver-tongued voice if I've ever heard one. Cool!
