Host Dave Berner hears from Phil Mickelson as Lefty looks ahead to the season’s remaining majors.

Phil says he probably won’t be using two drivers at the U.S. Open. “I don’t anticipate having that second driver for added length, that really moves it out there for another 20 yards. I’ll probably only use the shorter driver.”

As for the PGA Championship, Mickelson has fond memories of Medinah Country Club. “Chicago has got some incredible golf courses and the thing that I love about playing my first major championship at Medinah was how strait forward and difficult a test of golf it was.”

National Golf Editor Tim McDonald is just back from a trip to Ireland. In part two of this segment, he talks about some of the courses he played, including the K Club, host of this year’s Ryder Cup Matches.

How messed up is John Daly? William K. Wolfrum lets us know what he thinks of Daly’s new book, “My Life In & Out Of The Rough,” with some strong but fair comments. “Daly’s popularity is obvious, everybody likes him, he’s one of the guys,” Wolfrum says. “But one of the guys doesn’t go out and gamble away $60 million.”

Vern Burns may be the oldest, “new” pro golfer around. He’s 48 and didn’t even pick up a club until he was 37 years old. Now he’s shooting for a spot on the Nationwide Tour and eyeing the PGA Tour.
