There are a ton of great California golf resorts, but which one is the best? In this week’s podcast, host Dave Berner talks to Senior Staff Writer Chris Baldwin, who recently ranked the best golf resorts in the Golden State for TravelGolf.com.

“California almost invented the golf resort. If it didn’t invent it, it perfected it,” Baldwin says. At No. 1 “we had La Quinta Resort & Club, the big old Hollywood hangout in the Palm Springs region. The thing that gave it a slight edge over Pebble Beach is that weather is never a factor.”

Women are the fastest growing demographic in golf, and equipmentmanufacturers are trying to capitalize, according to TravelGolf.com Equipment Editor Kiel Christianson.

“They’re figuring out that the trend over the last several years has been that the only demographic that’s taking up golf faster than dropping it is women – so make some stuff that’s specifically for them,” Christianson says. “Don’t make them use cut off men’s clubs and ugly old bags that guys who can’t even match their shirts and slacks care about.”

Plus, in this week’s ‘TravelGolf.com On Course’ commentary, National Golf Editor Tim McDonald takes aim at people who say technology is ruining golf.

“The way I feel about technology is I think they should just cut them loose, let them go, let these mad scientists do anything they want to do to golf equipment to make me better,” McDonald says. “I don’t care about you, I don’t care about anybody else, but I want to be a better golfer, and I don’t care what it takes to get me there.”
