Golf and charity have become a great partnership. Boston radio station 890 ESPN Boston is in the second year of its new celebrity golf charity event. In this week’s podcast, host Dave Berner talks to Program Director Len Weiner about the event.

“This year we are going to benefit a charity called Homes for Our Troops, which is also backed by Phil Mickelson,” Weiner says. “Homes for Our Troops helps severely wounded veterans build homes.

Rocker Alice Cooper says taking up golf helped him beat alcohol abuse. Bill Wolfrum talks about Cooper’s new book, Alice Cooper, Golf Monster: A Rock ‘n’ Roller’s 12 Steps to Becoming a Golf Addict.

“He has talked about how he traded one bad habit for another habit,” Wolfrum says. “Golf may be considered a bad habit by some, but it’s a heck of a lot healthier than drinking to the extent that he was. Golf has really brought him back.”

Vegas on a budget? Don’t laugh, it’s not impossible. TravelGolf.com’s Chris Baldwin gives a few tips for doing a Las Vegas golf trip on the cheap, including negotiating green fees.

In this week’s ‘What Do You Like’ segment, TravelGolf.com blogger T.R. Massey talks about the GreenFix.

“It’s touted as a ball mark elimination system,” Massey says. “And it’s tremendous.”

This podcast is supported by MyrtleBeachGolfHotels.com and Las Vegas Golf Travel.
