June is the American Express Women’s Golf Month. PGA Professional Suzy Whaley is a spokesperson for the initiative, and podcast host Dave Berner talks with her in this week’s segment.

“Women’s golf has become a priority for me. I’m trying to get the word out there, as are many golf professionals, that golf is a place where we really want women to come out and enjoy,” Whaley says.

Hall of Famer Carol Mann talks about winning the PGA of America’s 2008 First Lady of Golf Award.

When golfers get an injury it usually has to do with the back. But you can prevent back injury, says Dr. Andrew Hecht, co-director of spine surgery at Mt. Sinai in New York. “What you should be doing is stretching - I would say a good 15 minutes. Warm up, stretch and get in better shape, and you’ll probably substantially lessen your injury risk,” Hecht says.

June 15 is Father’s Day. Equipment Editor Christianson recommends a few good gifts for dad from Head.

“I just got an e-mail from the Head apparel company, and they’ve got a nice line of gifts for dad,” Christianson says.

This podcast is supported by Golf Canada’s West and San Diego Golf Central.
