In this week’s podcast, host Dave Berner talks to TravelGolf.com’s Mike Bailey about golf in San Antonio, Texas.

“The big news here is that they did a complete restoration of historic Brackenridge, which hosted the Texas Open for many, many years here,” Bailey says.

TravelGolf.com’s Kiel Christianson talks about great golf gifts this Christmas.

“The hot stuff [this year] is really some very nice apparel,” Christianson says. “Golf apparel has come a long, long way since the 1970s, when they assaulted our eyeballs.”

Plus, Chuck Evans, executive director of instruction at Medicus Golf, says style ain’t everything when it comes to golf swings.

“You can have a perfect looking golf swing and not have what we call alignment,” Evans says. “And so you can be in all the perfect positions and still miss the golf ball.”

Thanks for the post! The renovation truly made a difference. Lots of good golf news coming to San Antonio.

There are incredible resorts opening up in the area the newest will be the JW Marriott San Antonio Hill Country Resort & Spa opening in the spring of 2010. The buzz is building quickly about this property due to the recent golf announcement of the Valero Texas Open which will change venues in 2010 to the new TPC San Antonio course located at the resort – hopefully we will bring in some really big golfers too! I for one am happy just to have a new spot for friends and family to stay when visiting – it’s connected to a bird sanctuary and surrounded by rolling hills so the views will be incredible. It’s exciting to hear the direction the city is heading in so I thought I’d share!
