One step taken: Michelle Wie makes the cut against men in Korea

Showing no signs of falling apart, Michelle Wie made the cut at the SK Telecom Open in Incheon, South Korea – a men’s event.
For those looking to keep up with Wie this weekend, check out the tournament leaderboard here, and keep in mind that they are keeping track of her by her Korean name – Wi Sung Mi (thanks to One-Putt and John Neal for that info).
And the infamous and dangerous Wie Warriors? Well, they seem thrilled. No one is about to say Wie made the cut at the U.S. Open, but she needed to make a cut at a men’s event first. It was a solid step by a young golfer, who by any standards is having an excellent first year as a pro.
From the Wie Warriors:
“Does anyone here still think that it was a waste of time for Michelle Wie when she kept “failing” to make the cut against the men? Would she have been better off if she didn’t have those chances to learn and compete against the best?
Where’s Limbaugh, better yet, where’s Baldie? We have to hold these people accountable. Off with their heads!” writes Wayne with a wink.
“Now we wait for all the “but it’s not the PGA Tour gripes to start".
3… 2… 1…” writes Mike.
Just a hunch, but I think we’ll be hearing more on this subject.

I think it was during the Casio, when Wie missed the cut by one stroke. It was in the middle of the night, yet Chris Baldwin declined his sleep to bring us the breaking news straight away.

Kudos to Ms. Wie for making the cut! Maybe now she can focus on actually WINNING something. Making a cut is like getting a C in school, maybe even a C- since this is against inferior competition. So, against the LPGA, she's basically an A-, and against AA-level male players, she's a C.

It would be interesting to know how many 16-year-olds have ever made the cut on the Asian Tour. That would be a better measure as to where Wie stands than comparing her to other women who has tried since there have been so few.
The only thing I've been able to find out via Google is that the youngest male to make the cut was 14 years old.
My guess is that only a handful of males 16 and under have ever made the cut in a pro-event at this level. Female or not, that's quite an achievement.

In case you don't know, if Wie wasn't playing in the SK Telecom Open this weekend, she would not be competing in the current LPGA Tour event. Why not? Because she's already entered the maximum number of events the LPGA allows. What's she supposed to be doing? Sitting at home watching TV?

You know she cannot become a "girls" member until she is 18 and you know how many folks get so "PO'd" when she gets exemptions.

Of course, if it were major league, the course would have been PGA-fixed; MW would not have shot 5 under, and/or the major leaguers would have set the cut line over 5 under and MW would have missed the cut. Let's not be too harsh on Baldie, Alex and the rest. They have been serving well for Wie's publicity and togetherness of Wie supporters.
They need to have their allies such as george and John D back in order to fight back the onslaught from Wie supporters because they are loosing their grounds as Wie improves on her golf and gets closer to her goal.
I think it is high time we showed our mercy on them as the battle is tipping toward our favor.
