SAN DIEGO, Calif. (JUNE 14, 2001)---Heritage Golf Group, a San Diego-based owner and operator of premier private and daily fee golf facilities, today announced the phased transition of White Columns Golf Club into a private club facility. Now called White Columns Country Club, the once daily fee golf course is now debuting as a private country club. White Columns, located 35 minutes from downtown Atlanta in Alpharetta, Georgia, is known for the beauty of its pristine setting and continues to garner accolades for its world-class golf course. As Georgia's newest private country club, White Columns is now offering individual, corporate, and family memberships and is extending membership opportunities to those living outside the White Columns residential community. During its transition, the club will continue to welcome limited daily fee play and outings until complete privatization is achieved within the next two to four years. As part of the phased transition to private club status, the clubhouse at White Columns Country Club is currently undergoing interior design enhancements. These refinements are a prelude to future expansion plans that will see the clubhouse evolve into a grand facility that will house the golf shop, mixed grille, fine dining and fitness facilities as well as a gathering place suitable for hosting elaborate food and beverage events. The centerpiece of White Columns Country Club is its golf course designed by world renowned course architect Tom Fazio. The 18-hole course, which opened in 1994, plays to a par of 72 and offers an enjoyable golf experience for players of all skill levels. The list of amenities at White Columns also includes a highly acclaimed Practice Center as well as a swim and tennis center featuring a Junior-Olympic-sized pool and lighted tennis courts.
White Columns has been the recipient of numerous awards. It was
voted 6th "Best New Course in America" by Golf Digest
in 1995 and placed 27th in Golf Magazine's "Best Among the
Top 100 Courses" to play in America. White Columns was ranked
number 10 in Golf Digest's 1999 list of all Georgia private, public
and resort golf courses, and Georgia Golf News recognized the facility
in 1998 as the "Number 1 Atlanta Daily Fee Course."
Heritage Golf Group acquired White Columns from Summit Pointe Partners in February of this year. Heritage Golf Group owns and operates high quality golf facilities, both private and daily fee, throughout the United States. The company is led by Bob Husband, former founder, President and CEO of the highly successful Cobblestone Golf Group.
