(FEB. 22, 2001) - Stone Harbor Golf Club in Cape May Courthouse,
N.J., which has been rated one of the state's top 20 golf clubs,
will host The 2001 Eastern PGA Club Professional Championship,
Sept. 26-29.
Designed by Desmond Muirhead and opened in 1988, Stone Harbor Golf Club is a 6,922-yard, par-72 layout. The course has hosted Philadelphia PGA Section events and a qualifying round for the 1998 New Jersey State Amateur Championship. The Jersey Golfer magazine ranked the course 20th on its 2000 list of the state's top golf clubs.
"This course is a great test of golf and we're excited to be able to host the finest PGA Professionals from the eastern part of the country," said Stone Harbor Director of Golf Marc Kimminau. "Our membership is excited about this event. We have had many competitions here over the years, but not a 72-hole championship."
Kimminau said Stone Harbor resembles a Pete Dye-designed course, including bulkheads and bent grass fairways.
