TORONTO (FEB. 28, 2001) - Golfer Mike Weir was named the winner
of the Syl Apps Award on Monday, the second year in a row he was
named Ontario’s athlete of the year.
Weir, who also won the Lionel Conacher award as male athlete of the year in voting conducted by The Canadian Press, finished sixth on the PGA Tour money list in 2000 with $2,547,829 and was ranked 21st in the world.
