From Staff Reports

NEW YORK, July 20, 2001 - Anyone who is passionate about the game of golf usually "eats, drinks, dreams, plays and watches" it nearly non-stop. And now they can listen to it, as well.

"A Passion for Life: Celebrity Musings from the Fairways" is an entertaining and anecdote-filled audiobook compiled and written by sportscaster Ann Liguori from her exclusive and candid conversations with well-known sports, entertainment and business personalities while playing with them on some of the most renowned golf courses in the world.

The package not only includes their insights into their own success and their views on a wide range of topics - - but also what they bring from their careers to the constantly challenging game of golf.

Among the well-known celebrities featured on the audiotape are Charles Schulz, Celine Dion, Joe Pesci, Matthew McConaughey, Brett Favre, Smokey Robinson, Charles Barkley, Vince Gill, Sylvester Stallone, Kenny G., and Evel Knievel.

"By using golf as a window into their souls," notes Liguori, who has been a regular contributor to both The Golf Channel and the Golf 2000 TV series, "we get our guests to open up and share with us sides of themselves seldom heard."

The "A Passion for Life: Celebrity Musings from the Fairways" audiotape collection is a great companion to Ann's 1999 book of the same title. Both items will be available on July 15, 2001, on her new Website: www.annliguori.com, along with videotapes of any of her more than 600 Sports Innerview TV show interviews with stars ranging from Mickey Mantle and Wilt Chamberlain to Jack Nicklaus and Kevin Costner. The audiobook can also be ordered by calling Ann Liguori Productions, Inc., at 212-593-2872.

One of television and radio's most prominent sports talk show hosts and interviewers, Liguori is the owner, host and executive producer of the longest-running TV sports show ever hosted by a woman - - Sports Innerview with Ann Liguori. Now in its 11th consecutive season, Sports Innerview airs weekly on Fox Sports and regional sports cable networks around the country.

In addition to producing and hosting 46 Conversations with Ann Liguori shows for The Golf Channel, Liguori is one of the original sports talk show hosts at WFAN Radio in New York, where she still hosts a weekly, live, call-in program, while also covering major golf and tennis events, Olympic Games and other sports for the station. Highlights From Ann Liguori's New Audiobook:

A Passion For Life: Celebrity Musings From The Fairways.

Charles Schulz

The legendary creator of PEANUTS discusses with Ann how he used many of his golf experiences as themes for his comic strips. When Liguori asks him which Peanut's character best describes his golf game, Schulz responds: "Probably Snoopy, because he just gets so terribly angry and so upset. We all do."

And Schulz goes on: "Golf is like women. Golf leads us on. You hit a perfect drive. You hit a three-wood right up there near the green, and you're thinking birdie all the way up there - - and then you chunk the approach shot and you get a bogey or a double bogey. So you've been led on and then you're turned down again . . ."

Celine Dion

The pop diva is an avid golfer who years ago bought Le Mirage Golf Club in Montreal so she and her husband, Rene Angelil, wouldn't have to wait for tee times. During her discussion with Liguori, Dion reveals that one of the reasons she took up golf was because it helped her marriage, and also because it has helped her deal with the stress of show business. "It (Golf) changed my relationship with my husband in a way because we got closer, not only out on tour together, but when we come here (to our course) and meet our friends here. So we're more often together, and I want to spend as much time with him as possible. But it definitely changed my life in a big way - - my personal life - - because I needed a balance."

Matthew McConaughey

Superstar actor McConaughey ("A Time To Kill," "Ed TV," "Contact," et al.), who Liguori compares to the legendary Paul Newman, has played golf most of his life. In fact, he tells Liguori that by sharing his passion about golf in a conversation with a casting director, he was able to land his first movie role. He then explains why he is so passionate about the sport: "It is a game that can't be mastered. It's always simple when you're playing well, yet so hard to figure out when you are playing bad. When I play, the game of golf is King. It humbles me and requires a great combination of poise, tempo, patience and aggression."

Sylvester Stallone

For Stallone, who is best known for his action hero roles in the "Rocky" and "Rambo" movies, golf has emerged as the working metaphor for his current struggles. After playing polo for 20 years, it was sheer curiosity that led him to his new hobby of golf. "It's a very psychological game that gets into your blood because it's against you and there is no one else to blame," Stallone tells Liguori. "When you have an image of a super boxer or warrior, people automatically equate you to be that good in everything, and it's just not so. Golf is a game of imperfection. I've worked harder at it than any facet of my career. I have found myself to be absorbed by the psychology of the game, and that is what it's all about."
