MIAMI -- Golfers who make a hole-in-one can win a "cool million" as part of the "Million Dollar Golf Cruise" aboard the new 2,974-passenger Carnival Conquest. The seven-day western Caribbean cruise, which features visits to Montego Bay, Grand Cayman and Cozumel, will sail round-trip from New Orleans Nov. 2-9, 2003.
The $1 million hole-in-one contest will serve as the finale to a day-long golf tournament at Montego Bay's legendary par-72, 6,820-yard White Witch Golf Club, located at the five-star Ritz-Carlton Hotel and considered one of the finest golf courses in the Caribbean with rolling hills, well-manicured greens and strategically placed bunkers.
Four golfers will be selected for the "Million Dollar Shootout" based on a closest-to-the-pin contest held during the tournament. These golfers will then have one shot to make a hole-in-one at a designated par-3 hole at the end of the tournament. The $1 million prize will be paid out as a 40-year annuity.
In addition to a fun-filled day of golf at Montego Bay, the cruise includes stops at Cozumel, home of the Nicklaus-designed Cozumel Country Club offering a rugged landscape carved out of the Mayan jungle, and Grand Cayman featuring the Sunrise Golf Center, a challenging par-3 course that is ideal for both beginning and advanced golfers.
"The 'Million Dollar Golf Shootout' provides golfers the opportunity to become an 'instant millionaire' and play some of the Caribbean's most beautiful and challenging courses, while enjoying the spectacular 'resort-style' amenities of Carnival's newest and largest 'Fun Ship,'" said Bob Dickinson, Carnival president.
In addition to unforgettable golfing opportunities, guests sailing aboard Carnival Conquest will enjoy a wide range of delicious formal and casual dining options, including full-service multi-course meals in the Renoir and Monet restaurants, and breakfast, lunch and dinner buffets, 24-hour pizza and various specialty venues in the poolside Restaurant Cezanne. An upscale reservations-only supper club, The Point, is featured, as well.
The 110,000-ton SuperLiner also offers full casino gambling, as well as 22 lounges, bars and nightspots, including a sports bar, wine bar, piano bar and multi-level theatre offering elaborate Vegas-style production shows. Four swimming pools -- one with a 214-foot-long water slide -- an Internet café, duty-free shopping mall, jogging track, expansive spa and children's facilities, and an outdoor recreation area with basketball and volleyball courts are also featured.
Prices for the Million Dollar Shootout begin at $859 per person and include all meals, accommodations and entertainment, golf in Montego Bay, and round-trip transfers to and from the golf course. Golf in Cozumel and Grand Cayman is available at an additional cost.
Non-golfers are also welcome to participate with prices beginning at $689 per person (golf not included).
