Resurgent PGA Tour Star Fred Couples Sings Praises for his SofTrak Putting Green
WICHITA, KS (Oct. 11, 2002) -- United Turf Industries, LLC - developer of SofTrak Putting Greens ("SofTrak"), the low-maintenance synthetic turf that closely simulates the look, feel and performance of natural turf for residential and commercial use - today announces 3rd Quarter 2002 SofTrak sales have increased by 32 percent on comparison to 3Q 2001 sales.
SofTrak President Lance Pierce attributes the substantial sales increase to word of mouth about the outstanding synthetic turf product, skilled regional SofTrak dealers who design and construct SofTrak greens, and national exposure generated by PGA Tour player use.

"SofTrak has earned the reputation for having the best-performing, easiest-to-maintain, longest-lasting synthetic turf on the market, as well as the most-highly skilled designers-constructors (SofTrak dealers)," says Pierce. "Furthermore, PGA Tour players are increasingly owning and praising SofTrak greens for their quality. When the best players in the world essentially entrust their livelihood to using SofTrak, you know you're building superior greens."
PGA Tour star Fred Couples had a SofTrak green constructed in his backyard earlier this year, making him the most recent PGA Tour player to own SofTrak. Others include Steve Flesch and Mike Reid. Dean Reinmuth, rated a top 35 golf instructor in the U.S. by Golf Digest, uses a SofTrak green at his San Diego golf school, where he works with PGA Tour players Rory Sabbatini, Grant Waite, among others.
Couples is averaging 1.75 putts per green this season, which is better than Tiger Woods and Rich Beem and ranks him 37th on the PGA Tour. "My SofTrak Putting Green helps me improve my short game yet it's fun for our entire family and it looks great in our yard," says Couples, who finished second two weeks ago at the Valero Texas Open to win more than $260,000. Flesch says SofTrak provides him with a PGA-Tour-quality putting surface at his home. He ranks 45th with $1.2 million in prize money won.
SofTrak dealers receive extensive training in SofTrak's sophisticated, proprietary design-and-construction system. The construction process includes creating two layers of crushed stone base, which enables undulations and contours to be designed into the green as well as quick, thorough water drainage.
SofTrak's proprietary RQS in-fill material is unique to the industry in that it resists hardening over time, ensures SofTrak greens provide consistent-rolling putts and shots into the greens that "hold" - even spin. And the surface fibers of SofTrak greens are UV-ray resistant to help maintain the lush, green appearance.
