Live for golf" is the slogan used by Craft Farms. Well, if you indeed live for golf then you must make plans to visit this 54-hole facility. Craft Farms opened in 1987 with its first 18-hole course, Cotton Creek, designed by hall of famer Arnold Palmer. In August of 1994, the Larry Nelson designed Woodlands was added, and Palmer was called on once again for Cypress Bend which saw its flags fly just two years ago.

Although Peninsula Golf and Racquet Club is located at the bottom of the state of Alabama it should be at the top of your golfing vacation list. Along Mobile Bay and touching two sides of the Bon Secour Wildlife Preserve, designer Earl Stone carved out 27 wonderful holes of golf, each providing you with a most scenic venue.

Former U.S. Open champion Jerry Pate made his designer colleagues, green with envy when he was handed a stretch of land located between the Gulf of Mexico and Bon Secour Bay in Gulf Shores, Alabama. What Pate did with the rolling sand dunes and lakes was produce the Kiva Dunes Golf Course, a links-style layout that was tabbed the second-best new public course in the nation by Golf Digest not long after it opened in April 1995.

If it has been more than a year since you played Highland Park Golf Course, I want you to forget all the mental images you may have stored up in your head. Because, for you and those who have never played the course, I will attempt to paint a new image. An image which hopefully reflects what heavy equipment and $4.5 million can do to a golf course that had seen better days.

Cypress Bend, which opened in 1997, is one of three courses offered by Craft Farms. This and Cotton Creek were authored by the Arnold Palmer, while the Woodlands, the first in this series, was designed by Larry Nelson. Although Cypress Bend doesn't have the character of the Woodlands it seems to play more difficult.
