Top 5 in state- public or private
This course would be definite top 5 in the state if it were called ocean bluffs or oceanside cc- something like that. It's pathetic that the rankings from golf digest- etc rank this track lower because of the Trump brand. Extremely difficult when windy- some of the best views in America. Played Riviera CC two days in a row after Trump- & Trump LA was shockingly far superior- JP
BEST PUBLIC COURSE IN LA
If you can score a HOT-DEAL mid afternoon after 3:00pm, you can get a round for $160 or less. Hands down the best course you can play for that amount. A single on my flight paid $20 out the door after applying all his hot-deal promos and on top of the hot-deal discount. An average round here costs upwards of $300 to even $500+!!!
Fairways roll, grass is soft, change of lies are good, rough is thick enough to catch your ball, course layout is awesome, greens are RECEPTIVE, putts roll, and views are AMAZING.
Shot a 93, was on route to break 90 here, but blew up on the back nine after winds picked up. Would definitely play here again if I get a hot-deal.
SoCal Bucket lister
Beautiful course with ocean views on every hole. Course Conditions are perfect. Not the longest course from the blue tees but the fairways and greens definitely have their challenges. It’s an expensive course but one to play if you live in the area. It’s beautiful.
Make Golf Great Again
I’ve played nice places. I’ve had great golf experiences but President Trump got this place correct again. From the moment you arrive, you are greeted with upbeat friendliness. The course plays the way it should. You are rewarded for good shots and punished for bad. Not to mention it’s in immaculate shape. I played with 2 people, a husband and wife, who made my experience even better. They were sweet, kind, warm hearted people who loved the game and were so encouraging. I sincerely hope I enhanced theirs as well. I’m blessed and grateful to have this day/memory in my back pocket. I hope when you go, you enjoy it just as much as I did. Thank you to everyone involved in the experience
Fantastic experience
We chose this course because of its scenery, primarily. I avg 100 at my home course, so I was expecting to have difficulty at this course. Aside from a couple of tough holes, mainly some Par3s, it was overall a great round. Beautiful backdrop of the Pacific Ocean, and magnificent homes above us. We got a great rate with a 4pm tee time, but we only finished 13 as the sun set.
As an aside, they have cool walking trails throughput the property, open to the public,
Great course.
Great overall course. Nice fairways and tee boxes putting greens in good shape. Ocean views on every hole. Will be back soon.
Great location and nice course
We enjoied the golf outing. However, for the high price, we were surprised about the substandard carts, no towels in the carts, no water etc. The little things were missing. The view on the course is spectactular. The lalyout, however, is rather boring. The greens are superfast and in good shape.
Top Notch
8:00 tee time, finished in 4 hours flat; the marshal was out doing his job. Got a GolfNow HotDeal for $172 each (with 10% off promo). I’ve played this course 3 times so far. Best condition fairways I’ve come across around SoCal, beating Monarch Beach, Journey at Pechanga, and Pelican Hill - North. Greens and sand traps were in excellent condition. We had a clear day with views of Catalina Island on practically every hole. Little to no wind on the front 9, and only a mild breeze on the back 9, but I’ve played the course before where the wind picked up after 11:00, not sure how common that is. Tough course, but exciting and walkable.
Course in great condition
Enjoy our round , views are spectacular and despite the maintenance a several weeks ago, the greens in great shape. A must play.
Trump has to do better
This course should be so much better for the price. When you get there they give you 20 warm up balls. The course was cart path only but the marshal will hassle you to keep pace. 6 hours later it was just not worth the money. You have public walking trails throughout the course with noisy people walking by your tee box. It’s a mess plus no bar or anywhere to grab a nice bite to eat after. Skip it!!!
Views!
The course is pretty much recovered from all the aeration and maintenance, maybe 85-90% but they are still doing cart path only for a little while longer. The fairway on hole 1 looked a little rough and I was worried but rest of the 17 holes the fairs were pretty much immaculate. The greens are very fast and everything breaks towards the ocean, just trust that when putting even when it doesn’t look like it. There is a view of the ocean on every single hole and it was an absurdly amazing view! I wouldn’t say it’s worth the crazy high “normal” price tag but if you can get a deal, go play it! Only thing to watch out for, especially now when the sun goes down early, is pace of play. We teed off at 12:10pm and the sun was going down literally as we were walking off the 18th green. I think the slow play is due to everyone admiring the views/taking pictures and also don’t discount the fact that this is not an easy course, the fairways can be very tight on a lot of holes. You need to be hitting it straight or you’ll lose many golf balls. Yes the fairways sort of run back and forth next to each other on many holes but it’s tiered working it’s way from the top to bottom of the hillside so it’s not always easy to just go and hit your ball from another fairway. Shout out to Manny working out by the carts at check in, been there for 23 years I believe he said and it showed with the knowledge he provided and also set the mood for a great day of golf to come!
This isn't CHICAGO
Paired up w some nice fellas. Very dewey this morning so greens abit slow at first but as moisture burned off greens became faster. Greens very grainy so you must adapt to greens speed depending which direction your putting also affects break. Most putts will break towards ocean even when you think it slopes away because of grain. Some faiways have overseed that looks like a bad hair transplant but overall acceptable. Cart path only for a very long duration after overseeding is warranted. Bunkering
And sand quality very good. Great layout great views
