Scotland Run Golf Club
About
Scotland Run Golf Club is conveniently located less than a half hour from downtown Philadelphia and only 45 minutes from Atlantic City. It has been voted the top golf course in the Philadelphia Region and it's also ranked in Golf World's Top 50 Public Courses in the country. The layout is routed through and around an old sand quarry, providing a unique mix of wooded, quarry, and links-style holes. The distinctive landscape has unique features including expansive waste areas and imposing cliffs that were deftly incorporated into the design. The golf course is wide open, which means it's at the mercy of the prevailing winds. Scotland Run Golf Club is a tough but fair test where you'll face forced carries, water hazards, and strategically placed bunkers. On mornings where the fog rolls off of the hills, for a split second you might think you're at St. Andrews.

Great time as Scotland Run
Course is in good condition even though the greens were recently punched. Staff is nice and overall pace of play was fine. Really enjoyed the various challenges presented by the terrain, the water and the ravine. Would definitely play here again.
Million dollar renavaction.
Been a year since I played at Scotland Run. The over 1 million spent on upgrades was well worth it. Course has new look ,new white sand in all bunkers. Terrific shape.
Great course, slow pace
Took 5 hrs. to play 18 which is way too long. Ranger told us a group two in front of us was the problem but did nothing to speed them up. First time playing here and the course was challenging. Not knowing the layout and where to land the ball made it even tougher. Would play again.
Great course, 30 minutes from Philly!
Would have given it 5 stars, but pace of play is slow due to other players ignoring pace of play courtesy, like to let faster players or single/twosome play through. Even so, everyone should definitely play this course.
Outstanding
As I have stated before, I am a relatively new golfer, a little over a years experience. I saw a deal on golfnow.com, which made it much more affordable for me and my son to golf a round. My son is in the Army, home on leave, he is actually the person that started me golfing, not sure if I should love or hate him for that, lol. My goal was to take him for a round here at Scotland run. If he were writing this with me, he would agree about what a beautifully maintained course this is. Even the sights of the rusted plane or crane adds to the charm. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. I cannot stress enough how beautiful and well maintained the facility is.
As with all positives, there has to be a negative or two. The first is the price, if I did not find a deal on golfnow.com, there is no way we could have afforded a round here, it is a bit over priced to play. The pace of play was an utter disgrace, the course needs marshalls to educate people on proper course ettiquette, such as if there are multiple groups behind you, do not take 20 practice swings, then hit 2 or 3 balls. I am not sure if I am becoming a better player or the course is not as challenging as advertised, at the end of the round, I expected my score to be much higher.
I would recommend for golfers of all skill level to play at least one round here, it really is a great place to play.
Going to get Great
They are redoing the bunkers, so that is the 4 star on course conditions. When they are done, 5+ stars. If you are a weekend hacker, this course will eat you up. Great course.
Super course
Course conditions are fabulous. Pace of play was great. Club house and facilities are top notch.
Overrated
I've never understood how this course constantly rates in the top 5 for nj public courses.... tee boxes and some fairways chopped up... but they are redoing all the traps... the ones that have been done so far are immaculate... so bravo for that... but imo not worth what they charge for greens fees
Not exactly Scottish, but good
Good course.
The name makes you think Scottish links, but it’s primarily parkland, with some links-style holes.
Enjoyable and challenging layout. White Tee slope of 128 is deserved.
Some bunkers are still being renovated. Otherwise, the tees, fairways, bunkers, greens were in good condition.
Awesome looking clubhouse.
Good value at my Hot Deal $45.
Disappointing
I enjoy the layout of this course and it is a beautiful facility. I played here many times years ago, but not in the past 4-5 years. I resent being charged $99 for a course that is basically under repair. At least three sets of tee boxes were nothing but dirt and about 20-25 bunkers are being reconstructed. I appreciate the investment being made in the course, but don't charge me full price while it is under construction. A couple of other things that were a nuisance. First, my group played the second set of tees, as we are all 7-10 handicaps. Almost every tee was pushed back to the tips. Additionally, every pin was either tucked in a corner or at the deepest part of every green. This stretched the course out by additional 300-400 yards. We figured that it would all balance out in the end, but were wrong. Also, the waste bunkers, which the course is famous for, were all in dreadful condition. Please recommend to all golfers that they roll over the ball in the waste areas. We kept hitting rocks, tire tracks, plow marks, etc. We play all balls as they lie and it made the round very difficult. Lastly, we need to see the cart girl more than once(3rd hole). It was 95 degrees and humid and we could have used a cool beverage. This was all so disappointing, because this will once again become a really golf course. Until that time, do not charge full price for an incomplete course.
Great course
Course was in great shape except for the work they are doing in bunkers but it was minimal and the bunkers they redid look fantastic loved the lay out loved the course and the condition definitely would play again
Great Course
One of the best/ well kept courses in the area. If you are fortunate to get a Hot Deal don't jump on it cause I'd pay for it first. They had construction on some bunkers which was communicated before playing. Can't wait to play it again. Would love to have more Hot Deals available per day.
Great course
Got there early and they let me go right out. Never caught up to the group in front of us. Course was well maintained
Very pleasantly surprised!
It's been over a year since I played here, but for this time of year the course was in very good shape. The greens were a little slow, but ran nice. We had some heavy rain a day and half earlier, so tee shots plugged in certain spots, but overall hitting area for second shots was fine. When all the bunkers are finished it's going to look amazing. Definitely worth a trip.
Lives up to the hype
Solid test of golf, but like most new courses, it has the one gimmicky hole. #14 is a very short par 4 that is bunker laden and narrow. Advise, take your 150 yd club and hit it twice. Still, course was in great shape from tee to green. Like most public tracks, the greens had unfixed ball marks, but nothing near other courses i've played this year. Pace of play was good, I started at 7:00 am, would have been much better if it wasn't for the hacks in front of us. Par 3's are as tough as they come. Two are 200+ and the other two are a mid iron into very undulated greens. Not sure if it is worth the $100 green fee, but if you find on online deal for less than $80, jump on it. Oh yeah, the skydiving place nearby was an added bonus watching people fall out of the sky.
One of a kind.
I played a Saturday afternoon by myself. Even though A few bunkers were under construction, it didn't detract from the overall experience. The course was in pretty excellent shape and the pace of play was not bad at all!
One of the Best
Although it has been over 10 years since my last round at SR, it still impresses, especially the back nine. I got a great last minute rate from Golfnow at 2:30 and arrived before 2:00. As soon as I told the shop that I was a 2:30, they suggested that I go off with the group on the box to beat out the school / leagues that were planning on showing up. I gladly accepted as it would result in a shorter round and subsequent earlier arrival home. I only gave it a 4 on pace because the two guys that I was paired up with had no clue what "Ready Golf" meant as there was a threesome up our backs the entire time due to their stupidly slow play despite my multiple hints and instances of playing obvious ready golf myself. (I'm not sure a Ranger could even educate these two). Luckily, the two wasted about 5 minutes screwing around I don't know where after 9 holes and I took that opportunity to head out on my own and finished the back 9 in about 1 1/2 hrs, not catching up with the next twosome in front until the 18th green. I did not score food / bev because I had no time to experience but there were plenty of water coolers on the course although 1 was of the temp that it must have been missed the last few fill up times.
Note - they are doing some substantial renovations of the bunkers although that did not impact my play or appreciation of the course, probably only solidifies it as they continue to improve.
Lives Up To The Hype
Course was in excellent condition despite the fact that we had sever thunder storms just a week prior. I had been told that it was a very challenging course, and it did not disappoint. Fast undulating greens, unique hazards and tight fairways made for a challenging round. My only complaint would be that service at the 19th hole was a bit slow. I will definitely be back.
Great Golf Course
It was my first time playing Scotland Run. I had heard that it was a challenging course, It lived up to my expectations. We had severe storms only a week prior, but the course was in excellent condition. The staff was very friendly but the service at the 19th hole was a bit slow. Overall a great experience, I will definitely be back
You MUST play this course...WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The course, the staff...OUTSTANDING.
