Hale Irwin Captures Ace Group Classic With New King Cobra Driver, Irons

Longtime Brand Loyalist Relies on SS 350 Driver and Forged Irons in One-Stroke Victory

Showcasing the driving accuracy and iron play that continues to classify and distinguish him among his peers, Hale Irwin posted a one-shot win at the ACE Group Classic, and added to his Senior PGA Tour victory record with his 33rd career title. The win was worth $225,000 as Irwin surpassed the $20 million mark in combined earnings on the PGA Tour and Senior PGA Tour.

King Cobra SS 350 DriverEntering his eighth season, Irwin has been a loyalist to Cobra equipment throughout his Senior PGA Tour career, and relied upon the recently introduced King Cobra SS 350 driver and new King Cobra Forged irons for his first official victory of the year. In January, Irwin captured his third successive Senior Skins Game in the first event in which he played the new King Cobra equipment, birdieing the final hole worth 11 skins and accumulating a record $450,000 for the event.

Irwin's driving game was backed by the unique King Cobra SS 350 model. The SS stands for 'Sweet Spot', and the King Cobra SS drivers feature the largest and 'hottest' of any conforming driver in the industry. The drivers feature a thin 15-3-3-3 Beta Titanium insert surrounded by an even thinner titanium ring to generate the maximum allowable energy transfer and a higher coefficient of restitution (C.O.R.) over a greater effective hitting area. The result is more distance, greater forgiveness and a sweet, solid feel and sound. An internal low and back heel weight pad is positioned directly in line with the hosel axis to promote a higher, straighter shots, and greater forgiveness on off-center hits due to its lower center of gravity.

Irwin's ball striking was similarly inspired by the new King Cobra Forged irons, which features an oversized cavity back and muscle arch behind the hitting zone to promote greater workability, uncompromising forgiveness, and traditional forged iron feel.
