TaylorMade
Introduces rac Black Wedge
CARLSBAD, Calif. (August 25, 2003) - TaylorMade Golf has introduced a new wedge called rac Black, so-named because of its unplated (non-chrome) black-colored finish. The rac Black owes its dark finish to a three-step oxidation process that turns the clubhead to a black color. Beyond its striking look, the rac Black's dark color diffuses light to reduce glare.
With
the introduction of rac Black, TaylorMade now offers three rac wedge
models -- Chrome-plated; the unplated rac Black; and the unplated FE
2 O 3 , which is designed to rust.
Like TaylorMade's other rac wedge models, the rac Black incorporates TaylorMade's proprietary rac Technology and Dual-Draft Grooves, and features a classic, teardrop shape.
TaylorMade's Dual-Draft Grooves, which are milled into the clubface, took more than a year-and-a-half of research and development. Their shape, width, depth and spacing work in conjunction to deliver a high degree of backspin with exceptional consistency, equaling greater control and consistency from shot to shot.
TaylorMade's rac Technology incorporates two distinctive Feel Pockets in the cavity; these Feel Pockets exist to channel impact energy to strategic areas of the clubhead, enhancing the kind of soft-yet-solid feel at impact that golfers love.

"Many players prefer an unplated, non-chrome wedge, which is why TaylorMade now offers two, the rac Black and rac FE 2 O 3 ," says Sean Toulon, Senior Vice President of Brand Management and Creation for TaylorMade. "Like the rac FE 2 O 3 , the rac Black's chrome-free Dual-Draft grooves feature purer edges for increased spin and control. The rac Black is a terrific new addition to our rac wedge line, and is already proven on the PGA Tour."
TaylorMade's rac Black wedge is available in right-handed 52° loft / 08° bounce, 54/10, 56/12, 56/14, 58/08 and 60/07. Manufacturer's suggested retail price is $142.
