Ping Golf PRODUCT PRESS RELEASES FROM THE MEDIA

The Tisi Tec Driver - Longer By Design

The driver preferred by 4 of the top 5 finalists at the 2001 World Long Drive Championship is now available to take your game to the next level. Already a winner on Tour, the TiSI Tec Driver represents the latest in driver technology from the engineers at PING. Using a process called Chemical Milling Technology (CMT), they've relocated weight low and near the face to reduce spin for greater distance. According to our testing, this results in 10 additional yards (in some cases more than 20). And, like all PING clubs, it's custom fit to your stance and swing.

  • Internal weight pads reduce spin for greater distance.
  • Custom fit for face and lie angle for improved accuracy.
  • Variable Face Thickness for greater energy transfer.

Ping Golf - The Tisi Tec Driver - Longer By Design, by Travel GolfThe TiSI Tec combines a patent-pending process we call Chemical Milling Technology (CMTTM) with proven TiSI Technology (variable face thickness, nearly parallel top and sole, elliptical backweight and JX hosel), our engineers created the driver preferred by 4 of the top 5 at the 2001 World Long Drive Championships. Like all PING clubs, it’s custom fit to help you get maximum performance from your game.

CMTTM is a new process that removes the 'alpha' layer of the titanium casting and precisely controls wall thicknesses. The removal of this material allows us to reposition mass in the form of weight pads on the soleplate near the face of the driver toward the heel and toe.

These weight pads help lower the center of gravity and optimize the golf ball's spin and lift characteristics, creating a boring ball flight and approximately 10 extra yards of distance. In some cases, Tour professionals have reported 20 or more extra yards.

The Effective Trajectory (ETTM) on the sole of the driver represents the driver's effective loft at impact. The TiSI Tec driver is available with ETs of 5.5°, 7.0°, 8.5°, 10.0° and 11.5°.

Common Innovations of PING Metal Woods

  • A patented variable-thickness face which optimizes performance by positioning more mass in the impact area and creating efficient energy transfer to the golf ball. This patented design feature optimizes spin and lift for hotter trajectory.
  • A nearly parallel top and sole which creates a structurally rigid clubhead that resists deformation at impact and transfers more energy to the golf ball. Conventional drivers with rounded tops tend to flex at impact, absorbing energy instead of transferring it to the ball.
  • An elliptical backweight which increases inertia, helping the face remain square through impact when mishit on the heel or toe. The backweight also helps stabilize loft when the ball s hit high or low on the face, optimizing trajectory for maximum distance.
  • A patented thermoplastic hosel available in multiple configurations of lie angle and face offset/angle to help control hooks and slices.
