Doral Golf Resort & Spa - Blue Monster

Course Profile

This resort has five outstanding eighteen hole courses. Playing these courses is considered to be the ultimate golfing experience. Since there are a variety of courses to choose from, every conceivable kind of challenge is available. The most demanding layout is the Blue Monster Course. This course hosts the Doral-Ryder Open every year in March, and is also home of the Genuity Championship.

"GOLF Magazine" selected it to their 1998 list of "Top 10 PGA Courses You Can Play, 29th in the category of "Top 100 Course You Can Play in the U.S." for 1998, and identifies the 18th hole on the Blue Monster as one of the "500 World's Greatest Golf Holes." Ray Floyd redesigned the Blue Monster Course prior to the 1997 Doral-Ryder Open. The Gold Course, which was originally designed by Robert VonHagge in 1968, was also redesigned by Raymond Floyd in 1995. It has narrow, well-bunkered fairways, including nine that are doglegs. Water comes into play on every hole of the Gold Course. The Red Course was redesigned in 1989 and features undulating greens that can be difficult to read. Hole #5 was changed from a par 5 to a par 3 in 1997. Water comes into play on twelve holes of the Red Course, and there are two island greens on holes #6 and #14. The Great White Course was designed by Greg Norman and has rolling fairways and greenside sand bunkers. It is billed as the only "desert-scape" golf course in the southeastern United States. The Silver Course, originally constructed in 1986, was redisegned by Jerry Pate in 1998. This target style course has narrow fairways, moguls, and elevated greens. Water comes into play on sixteen holes and the 16th hole features an island green.

The Doral Golf Learning Center with Jim McLean is located on the premises. Caddies are mandatory if you choose to walk the courses.
