Dalat Palace Golf and Country Club - Vietnam

A short walk from the Dalat Palace Hotel is the facility's tres magnifique golf course, its history as bizarre as the city it overlooks. Built as a nine-holer in the 1920s for Vietnam's last emperor (making it one of the oldest golf courses in Asia), it was abandoned when the ruler abdicated in 1945, painstakingly restored in the 1960s, abandoned again when the communists took over in 1975 and restored again in the '90s.

It's now one of the country's must-play golf courses, a beautiful, serene course where almost every hole opens on to views of Dalat and surrounding mountains. Dramatic elevation changes and fairways that twist, bend and slope with the terrain make it a fun play, and the course sports Vietnam's only bentgrass greens.
