TravelGolf.com to Bolster Web Presence in Arizona
From Staff Reports
PHOENIX, AZ (Jan. 22, 2002) - TravelGolf.com, the world's highest read chain of golf and travel publications, announced today that it will be bolstering its web presence in Arizona through the purchase and publication of ArizonaGolf.com, PhoenixGolf.com, GolfPhoenix.com.
For over five years, TravelGolf.com and related companies have published GolfArizona.com, Arizona's highest read golf and travel publication. TravelGolf.com President Robert Lewis said that the new domains will add to the company's already formidible lineup.
"The relationships we have forged with our clients and visitors to Arizona led us to believe that this was a necessary step in our company's growth," Lewis said. "These three domain names are natural hits, and will eventually grow to be key components of our overall network."
ArizonaGolf.com was formerly the website for the Arizona Golf Association, but TravelGolf.com obtained the domain name from Players Choice Golf. The company purchased PhoenixGolf.com and GolfPhoenix.com in a successful auction bid.
"The entire state of Arizona has some of the most amazing golf courses in the world, but for the traveling golfer, the Valley of the Sun is the epicenter of southwestern golf," said TravelGolf.com online editor Doug Carey. "In time, I think PhoenixGolf.com and GolfPhoenix.com will rival GolfArizona.com in readership. But more importantly, in the TravelGolf.com tradition, they will all feed off each other."
Lewis said that plans for ArizonaGolf.com have not been finalized, but that the natural hit domain names would be a key fit in the company's Arizona family of publications. For the immediate future, they will point to GolfArizona.com.
Editor's Note: In January 2007, a new ownership group acquired the WorldGolf.com network, including TravelGolf.com. Robert Lewis is no longer affiliated with this company.
