TravelGolf.com's Shane Sharp speaks with CanWest News about the changing face of golf
TORONTO, Ontario (March 17, 2004) -- TravelGolf.com Contributing Writer Shane Sharp speaks out about the changing face of golf in an article published today by CanWest News Service, Canada's largest media company and newspaper publisher.
The article, entitled "Hooligans hitting the greens tarnish golf's gentlemanly image" by CanWest's Misty Harris, looks at how the game of golf is moving away from old school traditions and is becoming a sport, like hockey and soccer, with rebel appeal.

Sharp's opinion? He thinks people should just relax and have fun.
"A lot of us don't care about the traditions of the game as much as going out and having a good time," he says.
With all the recent change, Sharp insists the sport isn't witnessing a Happy Gilmore moment in which conservative traditions are being sacrificed on the altar of popular culture.
"Any small movement of the needle is perceived to be fairly drastic because (golf) remains such a gentlemanly sport," he says. "If every once in a while you get some controversy, I think it's great for golf because it gets people talking about it."
The article was published by CanWest News Service, and appeared in major Canadian daily newspapers including the National Post online, Edmonton Journal, Saskatoon Star-Phoenix and the Victoria Times Colonist.
