TravelGolf.com Completes Largest Domain Exchange, Plans to Launch GolfInstruction.com
TravelGolf.com Staff Report
Looking to diversify its portfolio, the regional golf publishing chain plans to enter into the instruction and equipment publishing field.
TUCSON, AZ (OCT. 11, 2001) - TravelGolf.com, in what is believed to be the largest domain exchange between two companies, acquired GolfInstruction.com from the Information Centers of Hilton Head, South Carolina on Tuesday. TravelGolf.com traded 45 tourism domain names in exchange for the lucrative, "natural hit" domain name, which was for sale for $150,000 by domain name brokerage services.
"GolfInstruction.com has been one of the highest priced golf domain names on the trading block for a couple of years, and we felt it was an extraordinary opportunity to diversify our online content," says TravelGolf.com President Robert Lewis.
TravelGolf.com, the world's highest read chain of online golf and travel publications, currently publishes 24 regional based golf and travel websites, garnering a monthly readership of over 1.2 million unique users. Lewis says that the acquisition of GolfInstruction.com will diversify TravelGolf.com's editorial content and provide the company with the opportunity to get into one of the game's most lucrative factions.

Lewis says that TravelGolf.com plans to launch GolfInstruction.com at the end of the year, and will announce further plans for the publication at a later date. TravelGolf.com is actively seeking viable online joint venture partners to increase the depth and content of the publication.
"We have a long history of partnering with some of the best businesses in the golf industry and now we have a unique opportunity to expand our corporate relationships," Lewis says. "We have 24 publications reaching more than 1 million readers each month, and we feel that we have the regional and destination readership that would make it a natural to promote instruction and equipment information."
TravelGolf.com publishes 24 online travel and golf publications including MichiganGolf.com, ScotlandGolf.com, AustraliaGolf.com, OntarioGolf.com, LasVegasGolf.com, MyrtlebeachGolf.com, GolfOhio.com, GolfCarolina.com, GolfFlorida.com and GolfArizona.com.
