Assumes Control of TravelGolf West
TravelGolf.com Staff Report
Golf publishing chain TravelGolf.com/WorldGolf.com takes over three private label packaging companies, merges them under TravelGolfWest and hires Troon VP Schaefer.
SCOTTSDALE, AZ (Aug. 23, 2002) -- TravelGolf.com, the internet's most widely read chain of golf publications announced today that effective immediately they are assuming control of TravelGolf West, a golf package operation based in Phoenix, Arizona and located on the Internet at TravelGolf West.com.
Formerly operated by Spectrum Golf under a private label arrangement with TravelGolf.com, TravelGolf West promotes golf package offers through its 1.5 million per month network readership. The company plans to officially re-launch the operation as well as a completely re-designed web site by October 2002.
TravelGolf.com CEO and Publisher, Robert Lewis has hired Dick Schaefer, former VP of Troon Golf Vacations to direct the company's operations. TravelGolf West will also take over private label Arizona Vacations and Tucson Golf Vacations and merge them with TravelGolf West.
Powerful promotion, publicity and golf packaging

Says Lewis, "By being operated and fulfilled by TravelGolf.com, we can now offer golf courses, resorts and tourism-related businesses the ability to market their firms internationally to our affluent clientele while also delivering rounds of golf and placing heads in beds. We have run three profitable Arizona private labels, and by merging them into TravelGolf West, we now will have a formidable and profitable packaging company right away."
Dick Schaefer, as VP of Sales & Marketing for Troon Golf Vacations and Hospitality Tee Times, knows first-hand what TravelGolf.com was able to accomplish for his former golf package operations and had this to say:
"Without the power of TravelGolf and their 26 publications we would not have been able to make an impact on the industry as soon as we did. Even though the Troon brand in our name was a big help, we were still a start-up golf wholesaler with limited resources and TravelGolf put us on the map at a great price." He went on to say that "with print media being outrageously expensive TravelGolf.com offered the only affordable, responsive and effective alternatives to reaching our feeder markets."
Aiming for an International clientele
TravelGolf West will be the leading presence on the Internet as the new site will be designed in multiple languages including German, French and Spanish. Says Schaefer, "With the purchase of WorldGolf.com, TravelGolf.com has greatly increased its reach with Europeans, Canadians and those in the Pacific Rim. Arizona needs to do a better job at luring this affluent clientele and we plan on leading the way."
TravelGolf.com: A Forbes Magazine "Best of the Web" chain on the move
TravelGolf.com with its 26 online golf publications, two thriving weekly newsletters, 1.5 million plus readers per month and its position as the number one search engine ranked chain of golf publications, plans to make TravelGolf West its exclusive Arizona package operation. Through various levels of participation, TravelGolf West is now offering selected courses and hotels the opportunity to partner with TravelGolf West for inclusion in TravelGolf West packages.
Lewis says: "In simple terms this just means that the power of 1.5 million readers will now be funneled into just one Arizona golf travel operation - Travel Golf West. We anticipate that with the tremendous exposure that we plan to give TravelGolf West on our sites that our partners will benefit enormously."
