Make no mistake about it, the Ocean Course at Kiawah Island Golf Resort is expensive and "you want to enjoy the experience, not fight your way around 18 difficult holes," according to reader Elliot DeBear. "Take a camera or you will hate yourself once you see how gorgeous this track is from the 1st tee to the 18th green."

Iberostar Playa Paraiso Golf Club is a beauty. It is one of the newer tracks on the Mexican Riviera. The course features a lot of undulating greens, some that are almost crazy but fun to experience. This one is packed with bunkers, curved fairways and hollows in front of the majority of greens.

Playacar Spa & Golf Club on the Maya Riviera, 35 minutes south of Cancun, is a very difficult Robert von Hagge design. He is known for extremely narrow fairways and small greens, and Playacar is no exception, writes TravelGolf.com reader Elliot DeBear.

"Between the natural beauty, incredibly hospitable population, great beaches and golf courses, who missed the nightlife? Poipu Bay was a perfect setting to watch the whales from virtually every hole on the back nine, as well as a few on the front. A birdie on 18 was the iceing on the cake as they say. It's like they are picking on your kid sister, the bunch of bullies, and in a game that won't let her be a true member for two more years, yet they resent her getting exemptions to play in games (mens or woman's), and that any game when which she is in, television ratings go through the roof - much like they do when Tiger Woods plays a PGA event."

"Thanks to Chris Baldwin for being a stand up guy for the Zach Johnsons of the world. As a fan of pro golf, yes it indeed a "joy" to see an "Iowan Hick" enjoy his Masters moment. Who ever he praises for his win is a moot point. His joy was great and you are to commended for seeing the win for what it was ..."

The PGA Tour and its imperial commish are working hard for golf's elite. At the same time the new order is clearly driving away television audiences with production values that haven't changed in decades and demanding more from loyal sponsors and delivering far less in terms of reach and value.
