Reader: Given 'shaved' greens, the USGA not worthy of respect

Regarding the Rebel Blogger's post on the greens at Pinehurst No. 2, "Penrod 64" writes:

I have no respect for the USGA. When I see a ball rolling in the rough off the green faster than it rolls on the green then I know something is wrong. As was said, the green is supposed to hold a well hit ball, the greens that the USGA and the rough around the greens are so shaved that I am surprised that they aren't painted green to cover the roots of the grass.
