Ravenwood Golf Course
About
Ravenwood Golf Club is situated in the Finger Lakes region in western New York. It's one of the most popular public championship courses in the Rochester region. Robin Nelson designed the course in 2002. He utilized the gently undulating landscape to seamlessly connect the holes to one another so that the whole golf course has a natural flow. The front nine is gentler than the back, where the par 3s present formidable tests. The water hazards on the back are particularly challenging. The golf course finishes with one of its most memorable holes. Ravenwood's par-5 18th has a green that's tucked into the woods with the hill behind it forming a natural amphitheater. A challenging array of seven strategically placed bunkers guards the green and approach area.

Perfect!
Love this course! Challenging, beautiful design and backdrops ( especially in the fall), GPS carts, lots of sand traps protecting the greens and two par threes over the water. Best kept secret in upstate NY.
Ok fall rate...
Played on a Sunday afternoon... knew pace of play might be slow, but it was mind numbing.... when I said something at the pro shop, they just said that the pace was on par, so we must have been just playing fast.... but the backup was for about 4 holes in front of me and 5 or more holes behind me, with a single group causing the problem... you can't see that from the computer screen in the clubhouse, even if they are on 4:15 pace .... if they actually had a ranger out there, they'd have seen that every group for as far as the eye could see was waiting to hit their shots.... we skipped from 11 tee to 15 tee, and played the remaining 4 holes without a single person in sight
Greens were brutally slow, but I don't expect perfect course conditions this time of the year....
All in all its a great course but I'd never pay in-season rates
Ravenwood the quintessential course
Always a good round at a very well maintained and challenging course. Wet conditions made it even more of a challenge. Course is always in great shape and a beautiful venue especially in the fall when the colors are at peak.
Great fall shape
After a tremendous amount of rain, I was pleasantly surprised that the course condition was stellar. The greens were in fantastic shape and not slowed down too much from the water. Must be a really good drainage system. The only negative was that carts were not allowed off the path but maybe that is why the fairways were in such great shape. Price can be a bit steep but there are deals to be had at this course, which is very enjoyable to play and the staff is very friendly and accommodating.
The best public golf experience in Rochester!
Hands down, the best public layout and best maintained golf course in the greater Rochester, NY area!
Tee boxes like carpet.
Beautifully maintained fairways.
Good sand in the bunkers.
Perfect greens - challenging - but not 'tricked up' in any way.
A 1st and 2nd cut of rough around the greens just like the pros see everyday. What I loved about this feature is that - if you landed on the green but the ball ran off a couple feet - you weren't penalized with 4" rough!
This extra commitment to a fine golfing experience is what sets Ravenwood apart, and why I think it is the only 5-star public golf course in this part of the state.
Pretty wide open on most holes. Not a lot of trees.
Clubhouse amenities at the 19th hole are lacking.
$45 was a senior rate.
Pricey during the summer months but I think you get your money's worth here.
Perfect condition
Second time playing the course could not be more impressed played ball down never any issues love the layout big landing areas off the tee but if you stray thick penalizing rough large gorgeous greens with plenty of undulation but very fair quickly becoming one of my favorite courses in central/western New York !
Beautiful course
Scenic, gorgeous. Wide open Fairways. Starter had us go off on number 5 as we had a late tee time. We got thru 16 before it got too dark to continue. Had a great time!
Gen of a course
Grabbed a deal for late Sunday evening. Didn't get thru 18 but it didn't matter. Wonderful course, scenic layout. Beautiful.
Beautiful
Fun layout, great conditions, friendly staff. I live close so I generally wait for a good price (otherwise too expensive for me compared to other Rochester courses - although conditions reflect that).
Staff is awful
Staff is always rude, the starter wasn't even on the first tee. Then after ten groups were lined up on the first tee he shows up mad blaming the paid customers for his lack of doing his job. Also guys in proshop were really rude for no reason at all and it just started the round off on a terrible foot.
One of the area's best
This is a great course. Challenging and in very good condition. The course requires well placed tee shots and will test every Club in your bag. Every person we came into contact with was professional and personable. A little on the pricey side but worth the investment. Give it a try and you'll be glad you did.
Best Course in Rochester
Nothing about this course will disappoint you. Love it!
Beautiful
Course was awesome despite getting 3 inches of rain that morning. Definitely would recommend!
Great Course
Weather was great, small bugs were bothersome but tolerable. beautiful grounds and it was a very enjoyable round.
