| Zack and Jesus |
April 11, 2007, 12:02 pm |

I don't know how much Jesus cares about golf. I do know that he cares about people..............Zack Johnson being one. God can use golf if He wished to help a person and to get the word out......the word by the way is "JESUS!"
We used to live in a God-fearing nation! Now we are overrun with godless people who get their voices heard. Their word is NO JESUS!!
Thanks to and for a man who will acknowledges Jesus. One added point.......If he loses his next ten matches did Jesus cause him to do so? That is an interesting thought..hu?

| Zach thanking God |

I too want to thank Zach Johnson for being honest and witnessing his faith to all after his victory at the Masters. He needs to know that this was such a positive message and granted him alot of supporters.

Nice to hear Zach Johnson say what he felt rather than just be politically correct. His words came across as sincere, unlike those we hear daily on TV sound bits from the politically correct politicians. Johnson's win gives hope to all those who play golf and are struggling to make a living. His comments about God showed a wholesome approach whether one agrees with him or not. Good going Zach.

Way to go Zach. Thank whoever (watch someone correct this with "whomever") you think appropriate. It's your acceptance speech and I can only imagine how "wowed" you were at that moment.
His best line was on Letterman where he said, "before my victory at the Masters, I didn't even know who I was." Ha!
Good luck this weekend in Hilton Head.

| Zach and God |

You could cut the tention when Zach made his "thank Jesus" quote and I say more power to him. So often we take comments like that as a response to the moment. If I understand the God thing at all I would submit that Zach was probably grateful for a whole lot more than the win. Perhaps he was grateful for the inner strength his relationship to God had provied durring times of discouragment following failure. I submit that there were a lot of people more talented than Zach who were watching and saying, "Why did I give up". Zach had the guts to say ... I couldn't have done this by myself.

Baldwin must not have heard Zach also thank his sponsors --individually, by name -- during the Butler Cabin interview. He also thanked them -- anonymously, not by name -- at the later ceremony. So, it's not just the Michelle Wie's of the golf world with a head on their shoulders and a buck in their pocket.
Personally, I could have done without both thanks (to G-d, and Mamon), but it's Zach's choice to say and thank whomever he wants.

Thank God there are truly good men in this life & in this sport of golf that are not afraid to thank HIM for the gifts they have received in being able to be good in the sport they have chosen! How sad that Chris Baldwin doesn't understand or perhaps because he doesn't have the gift of writing well, he feels that he can disrespect someone who does well. Why is he writing for TravelGolf.com? There must be someone who can write with a more positive attitude on such a great sport! God bless Zach Johnson & all who realize where their God given talents come from!

You don't read too good, do you, Judy? See, Baldwin is SUPPORTING Zach's right to praise Jesus.
And I say praise God for Chris Baldwin having the courage to say it.
And praise God for TravelGolf.com letting him say it.

I believe Zach Johnson thanked God for giving him the patience, determination and courage to win at Augusta. I don't think he believes God roots for any athlete or player. Those of us who believe in God only enjoy the peace we get from our faith, not the talent Mr. Johnson showed last week.

The fact of the matter is Zach Johnson was the best player, with the necessary slice of good fortune, on the day.
Maybe the question Ted Nantz should have posed is why the winning duo of God and Jesus were not helping the other 60 or so players?

Thank GOD for guys like Zach for standing up for something he believes in. Why is in today's world, men talk of about every rotten belief and actions in this world, but mention JESUS and you get cruified just Jesus did? What do you believe in Chris Baldwin?

First of all, Zach is not a hick. Just a normal, straight foward guy that's very refreshing and honest. His reference to Jesus as his strength came from the heart. Think about this.
God usually selects average people to carry his message and Zach was the appointed. Zach has the faith. (And Tom Lehman too)
Don't you wish everybody did?

It turned my stomach to hear Mr. Taylor give credit to Jesus for his success.
Grow up!! There is no god---I'm not sure about the Easter Bunny.
I pray to god that Mr. Taylor will never win another tournament.

I'd love to see a Muslim win the U.S. Open and thank Allah for allowing him to do so. I'm sure all you Jesus freak hypocrites would lose your minds.
