What a joke ,A golf tournament that feature Tiger Wood in commercials from the company that sponsor the tournament. No wonder that Tiger opponents were supposed to be easy prey till he reach the week
end play. But they made a mistake with one player.so the Showcase for the weekend Showdown was a flop.

I find myself on both sides of this debate. While I do agree in principle that Tiger has the tour by the tail, things might be different if the tour had more players that truly knew how to win and were willing to exhibit that ability week in and week out. With the amount of money that a top 15-20 finish allows a player these days, it's hard to imagine that very many of them have the heart and desire that was evident in the 60's and 70's when players like Nicklaus, Palmer, Player, Watson, Wesikopf, Miller, Crenshaw went out every week to WIN, not just to maintain their place on the money list. Today's large purses have made the player complacent and taken away the fire that we see only in Tiger.

| PGA TV viewers |

The PGA has problems other than whether
Tiger will play or not. Viewers are getting fed up with the number of commercials during a broadcast, once more they are the same commercials repeated over and over. Thank god for the remote control. Can you estimate how much actual golf ( someone hitting a golf ball) is shown during a 3 hour televised event? Kelly Telghman is great, but she is close to "Tiger is all that matters" frame of mind, as Lanny Watkins and Nick Faldo have done.

| Tiger's tournament schedule |

I am a HUGE Tiger fan. He is about EXCELLENCE. He deserves everything he has and he should not have to pay tax on his income from now on. He has every right to pick the tournaments he will play and to limit his appearances to the minimum required by the tour.
That being said, I miss him in every tournament he doesn't play. I wish he would play more, but it's his life and I would oppose any attempt to change the "rules" to make him play more.
Sincerely,
Jim Giese
PS: Tiger--Your decision, but please play more tournaments. Thanks.

Let's all admit it, Tiger Woods is the definition of a powerful magnet. Last week when Tiger was eliminated by Nick O'Hern my wife who does notunderstand golf, & has little interest in it, made the comment, 'this event is boring'. I find it peculiar that she has never made that observation when Tiger is in an event. He transcends the sport of golf & is a shining light for the concept of capitolism. The beauty of the situation is that the so called handlers ( PGA tour officials ) cannot figure out how to handle him, nor should they. Why don't we all 'come up for a breath' & enjoy the greatness....

You are forgetting one important item. He doesn't have to play every event, just the ones he wants to. Remember, he is an independent contractor.

I do agree, he is an independent contractor. And you want to rest and play your best - and at the right time. But...
On the other hand the tour does do a lot for Tiger and his charities and it would be nice if played in a few more events. I think 3 or 4 more events per year he could manage. It's not like his travel arrangements are too taxing. Now with impending fatherhood, I'm sure we'll see him less. There are some great players out there - I think the Tour just needs to focus on getting them more air time.
