| RE: Phil Mickelson |

Sorry to disagree with you, JDevaney, but Phil Mickelson did want that news report to go public. The Dobler family story has been the top article on his website since he gave them the money. Every time he and his wife Amy do anything for someone else, a story about it is on Phil's website. That's not to say that I don't commend him and his wife for what they do. They have helped many people and that is a wonderful thing. But Phil, in my opinion, of all the many charitable pro-golfers out there, is always ready to make sure that the public knows about his good deeds. I honestly see politics in his future after golf!

| Mickelson/Woods giving |

PGA players in general, including Phil and Tiger, are some of the most generous athletes in the world. It just happens that Tiger and Phil are able to do more. TW Foundation, Start Something, building schools, Birdies for the Brave, yep... all things that greedy envious morons (did you read the tax comment?...geez) should take shots at. I applaud Michelson and Woods for helping. It gives a new meaning to "These Guys are GOOD"!

| Chris Baldwin's comments on Michelson's and Wood's Charity coverage |
March 14, 2007, 5:22 am |
by Enda Lonergan
Fair play to you Chris, I could not agree with you more. All this ego massaging of the these guys is just rediculous. Ok, they provide much needed resources for worthwhile charities, but lets face it so do many others, but they don't seem to crave the media exposure for doing so like Mr. Woods and Mr. Michelson.
I'm not sure what the Tax implications are in the US compared to Ireland, but in Ireland Charitable donations can be written off against Tax, so it is not uncommon for big earning celebrities, sports and others, to give big sums to help balance their books.
I know that many other notable PGA Tour Players do tremendous work for charity on and off the course, but we don't read about that every day of the week, now do we.

I'm surprised respectable companies still advertise on this site. The guff that is written by this goon gets worse every day.
I'm sure Tiger would give all his money away if it meant he could get his father back.
Baldwin...you are a fool.

I believe that Chris Baldwin has missed the boat in the article on Charity giving. Anytime anybody gives to the less fortunate, they should be praised. Give praise to all including the biggest names in sport who set the bar for all others to do what they can. Every $ counts. I will continue to subscribe because i enjoy the commentaries.

Who deserves the praise? All of them! The O'Brien story is great, but it is improper to compare one act of kindness with another. All these people are doing it voluntarily, so whatever their motivation or wealth, it is a good thing and they should be commended.

Your comments on Michelson's and Woods' generosity are way off base and totally cynical. Give credit where credit is due. Michelsen and Woods are giving millions to charity and sharing their wealth to build a better life for thousands of kids. They are using their celebrity status to benefit others. Your derogatory email convinces me that some sports writers have a few screws loose and are missing some marbles.

The problem with your argument is that there are 600 millionaire members and if they all pitched in that would only be a donation of $ 133.34 cents. I am not close to being a millionaire but I donated more than this to cookie drives for co-workers in the past month. I know you had to give this club press since they let you play there but come on.
