Welcome to British Columbia Mr. B. There are strange things done neath the midnight sun by the men who moil for gold!!!!!! Oh sorry, thats another Canadian story. In British Columbia we grow "real" men. I'd venture a guess that at least one half of all male golfers, (and a goodly number of the fairer sex), you would find attatched to a piece of graphite, either with a clubhead or fishing reel on one end or another, on a regular basis. As you wrote in your article, it only seems fitting that these two pursuits should engender a fair to midlin dose of fear to truly experience either sport. The boat "you" were in by the way is considerably larger than the ones used by British Columbia salmon fishing and golfing nuts.. Skins and Fins is the Provincial sport in this neck of the woods, and the smaller and frailer the watercraft, along with the larger the canyon to hit over, are staples of the true B.C. sportsman. So remember, to all our "golfing" and "fishing" friends south of the border, C'mon up, bring lots of "american pesos" (my goodness we've been waiting so many years to say that),, grab hold of the largest driver you can find, (we will help you out with a fishin pole), and tackle some true mountain golf on a course like Furry Creek, (yea just you remember that name), we will scoot you around that golf course and promise you won't lose more than a dozen balls and post much over 15 above your handicap. Then, when you have been properly humbled we can drag you out to Skookumchuck rapids where you can ride the 20 ft. riptide and see if you can hold down the hot dogs from the golf course while you attempt to catch a B.C. "TYEE"... We will bring along a bucket for your tears, (and anything else you might lose), and at the end of the day we will drop you off and help you to your hotel room where we will leave you whimperin to urself about illegal forced carrys and cliffside lies, how your life passed before your eyes and through your legs as you rode the "Big Water", BUT. YOU WILL FEEL THE MAN, my son... Lookin forward to seein Y'all. Chuck Collet, Pitt Meadows, British Columbia
