Course conditions May 20, 2008, 2:31 pm

by Doug in Cincy
We had a group of 12 play two rounds May 16, 2008. Course is playing to a par of 69 (not told to us when we booked) as they have converted several par 4's into par 3's while moving dirt around to add an additional 18 holes (they did only charge a construction rate of $30 for 18 holes). Real problem was that 7 times during our 36 holes our three groups had to have new carts brought out to them as the carts could not make it up the hills. It would appear they are putting all of their money into moving dirt and are not up keeping the course/carts for those wanting to play now. I would recommend not playing course at this time, it was not very enjoyable.

BAD DAY March 18, 2007, 4:46 pm

by Tony Ray
Played Eagles Landing on sunday March 18th, and in a word it was terrible, To start with we were told it was cart path only and a winder rate was only 27.00, that seemed ok, as we started we soon found that a ball in the fairways was a plugged muddy ball, wet wet wet, it was cut so close in the fairways there was nothing to hit off of ! and the rough was the same ! greens were slow, and spotty..after 9 holes my partner and I had enough. We went to the clubhouse to ask for a raincheck and were told that the special was cheaper than the usual rate of 31.00 for 9 holes !!! To which I replied I wouldn't pay 31.00 to play the whole course! I cant stand a course where they act they are doing you a favor by being there ! They need to remember we golfers pay them ! I guess in a vacation town they dont care about repeat bussiness, I would never go back !

Not Bad September 18, 2005, 5:17 pm

I like many (probably) opted to play the green tees instead of the white because of the length of the course.Green tees measure out (according to the score card) at 6208, which are closer to my home course.Should have played the white and bragged once home the course played very easy for me with exception to holes 10 and 11.
My only problem with the course is the constant nagging about playing time.I like most who play golf while on vacation know the rules of golf and can keep pace without problem-evedently they must have slow players here because everywhere you turn the time is posted for the hole and threatning verbage is used for slow play, but with an extreme number of Rangers as I have heard they have, it would be hard to be a straggler.
The Greens were fast, the fairways in great shape,no complaints.
As a side note-the lady in the clubhouse was a wonderful hostess-she gave me a coupon for 5 bucks off-and let my wife (who didnt play at this outing) ride for free.

thrown off May 28, 2005, 6:51 pm

on May 26,2005 we had a tournament on this course, there were 22 of us playing. The couse has a playtime of 4.5 hours. at 3.5 hours they told os we had to get off the course. There was no prior notice given. our last group had 4 holes to go. We were thrown off bacuse they had a larger tournament coming on. This is no way to run a golf course.

The article is very accurate as to the course in it's layout and play, it just omits one problem. After moderate rainfall the poor runoff and drainage becomes all to prominent. Do not try to place your tee shot in the middle of the fairway as you will likely be in a mud puddle. Granted we played in early april but the course is not worth the $48 you pay to get soaking wet feet and muddy clubs. Stay in the rough and at least keep your feet dry,

Your commentary on the course is very good. We've played several times with friends on trips to the Smokies and found the round to be enjoyable.
This is a classy course, well maintained with exceptions noted,
and are looking forward to a return this weekend. Will be looking for the yardage discrepancies you mention, although probably not a factor in our
respective games. Those nice, wide fairways are enough to entice us up from our home course here in N. Georgia.
