Bashing the USA April 23, 2007, 10:46 am

by Rruzee
How about bashing the USA a little more. I for one am proud to be an American, even when we had a president that lied to the American people about having sex with ML. I guess if he's going to forsake his vows to Hillary before God, it doesn't say much for us.

"Masters" April 18, 2007, 7:48 am

by Wally
Congrats to Zach...Likely the reason the rest of the world didn't do as well as they planned was they weren't used to playing on a "Spunky Monkey" golf course...Where's the "WindMill".....the states have ruined a great, world class golf course by making the best look very average...I won't tune in again to watch world champions be thrilled saving bogey or missing greens on purpose....I want to see the course attacked not players barely survive!!

Masters success for US April 18, 2007, 4:53 am

by Enda Lonergan
Yes, praise where its due and congratulations to Mr. Johnson, and of course our good lord who was responsible, pitty he forgot about Zach at the K Club last September, must have been on vacation or something.
Yes the US have success in the majors but with respect to the Rdyer Cup, you guys still have your selection process all wrong.
Given the multitude of overseas Players on the PGA Tour, having to finish in the Top 10 to get points is a major flaw, it should quite simply be points to the Top 10 placed Americans irregardless of other International placings. Then and only then will you correctly reward the more consistent American Players, and two Wild Cards should have been enough for any Captain, shows major lack of faith in the Tour that he has to have four.
Valhalla will be another sob story for the US Players in '08 for sure.

top of the world Ma! April 18, 2007, 1:27 am

by Clay Jones
Oh, you kidder you! I thought you were being serious for a moment. With 3 of the top 10 and 9 of the top 25 I can see why you think you might be the best golfers in the world if you discounted facts and statistics.
The US boasts more golfers than most countries have people but can't win against Swedes, Irish and Spanish golfers in a TEAM format. What's up with that?

we wont bully the yanks. April 17, 2007, 9:43 pm

by kelvin penman
well Brandon, good on Zac winning the masters, personally i had a wee wager on Luke Donald, and had'nt it been for his treble bogey on the ninth hole of the last day, i think we could have had our first european win. So you have a wee chukle to yourself, cause i dont think it's going to last.till the next time Brandon, remember this, he who laughs last laughs longest.

American Masters April 17, 2007, 9:43 pm

America's kinetic intelligence is far greater than its social intelligence. Why is that, do you suppose?

masters April 17, 2007, 8:22 pm

by al condon
I think Zach Johnson surprised pretty much everyone...Was I the only one that noticed the Worlds # One Golfer not only buried his club into the ground after an errant shot,,but then I believe he actually cursed,,,,this is the third time I have seen this happen..I know the PGA cannot or dare not address this,,But I was surprised to say the least the the Masters,,a tournament I have watched with my sons for some 40 years would let this slip..
They are so well mannered and well spoken..........Where is Hootie ???

Propaganda "bought" April 17, 2007, 6:40 pm

by David
It seems that you not only bought into the golf propaganda, but also the propaganda about the US invading countries "unilaterally." Just for your info, there were 25 other countries that particiapted in the liberation of Iraq, which was alson sanctioned by the UN. You also bought into the propaganda that the US is the worst country when it comes to the environment. India and China are much bigger polluters than the US.
As a journalist you have a responsibility to lay out the facts; not just propaganda.
Now, if you were joking then, never mind.

RE: Propaganda April 18, 2007, 7:40 am

by Wally
Please David...we are talking golf...but you must have Iraq mixed up with Afganistan.....Iraq was an illegal invasion and occupation....where as Afganistan had U.N. approval and supported legally by many countries.

Brandon - Keep Writing April 17, 2007, 5:57 pm

by Brooks
Brandon, I enjoy your writing style. Haven't seen an article from you in awhile. Keep up the good work.

What a stupid Tucker. A journalist from one of the largest nations on earth talking about levelling up the playing field in a country v country contest. If he belonged to a nation of 4 million rather than 300+ million people would he be so keen to try to match the points haul of say Ireland in the Ryder Cup.

Brooks: On behalf of Brandon, let me jump in and say thanks for the compliment. I was surprise that you haven't seen an article from him in awhile, since we publish his stories numerous times each week, and he also writes a blog and does a travel podcast for us. See:

Maybe keep writing Mr. Tucker; but please stop listening to Europe's smack on all things U.S., not just the Ryder, and stay away from the political. Where the hell do you get the notion we invade countries unilaterally? Check the history of 17 UN resolutions and how many countries join us in Iraq, Afghanistan. Also, check the pound per person pollutants (CO2, Methane) produced in China, Russia, etc.. We are one of the cleanest countries on earth. Man I get real sick of this crap! And now I have to put up with it from a golf writer??? I'll not be reading your drivel anymore unless you want to stick to facts, and golf.
