Staff Report
CHICAGO, Ill (JUNE 21, 2001) - From famous tracks such
as Cog Hill to lesser known ones like O.L.Champion Golf Course
in Macomb, the Land of Lincoln offers a plethora of great golf
for those who don't mind the elements.
In an effort to expand coverage state-wide, big hit ChicagoGolf.com has become GolfIllinois.com, which was purchased last week by golf publication chain TravelGolf.com. TravelGolf.com publishes 24 online travel and golf publications including MichiganGolf.com, ScotlandGolf.com, OntarioGolf.com, MyrtlebeachGolf.com, GolfOhio.com, GolfCarolina.com, GolfFlorida.com, GolfArizona.com and GolfCalifornia.com. The major change in editorial direction was prompted as a result of a 15 percent increase in Illinois readership in TravelGolf.com's southern publications of MyrtlebeachGolf.com, GolfFlorida.com, GolfCalifornia.com and GolfArizona.com over the past year. "This new URL helps us broaden our coverage to the entire state of Illinois," said Editor Doug Carey. "We will position bureau chiefs in key areas throughout the state while occasionally crossing over the border to Wisconsin, Iowa, Missouri and Indiana. Illinois golf readers are an affluent crowd. We have a huge readership base of serious tournament golfers including many Chicago District Golf Association members. They are heavily targeted by many of our sponsors." Detailed course guides, lively course reviews, tournament coverage, Chicago District Golf Association coverage, and interactive forums will continue to be hallmarks of the publication.
