August 22, 2000 - TravelGolf.com, publishers of 15 online regional
golf publications, will be entering into the world e-commerce by
offering their readers a complete online pro shop.
TravelGolf.com signed a private label agreement today with The Golf
Warehouse (TGW.com) to represent and handle a comprehensive online pro
shop. The two companies plan to launch the pro shop at the end of this
month.
Mike Marney, CEO of TheGolfWarehouse.com, said TravelGolf.com's emergence
as a leader in the travel golf-publishing field made them an excellent
partner to team with.
"TravelGolf.com is increasing their readership and aggressively
capturing the golf travel market by producing excellent regional golf
content. They have been very successful selling golf packages in Myrtle
Beach and we believe the new Travel Golf Pro Shop will be very successful
as well. We're very impressed with their recent acquisitions and commitment
to well-produced content."
TravelGolf.com had been interviewing pro shop partners for more than
six months and said TGW offered customers great service, selection and
price.
"Getting customers is very difficult to do in any kind of retailing,"
said Robert Lewis, TravelGolf.com CEO. "We found that TGW provides
great customer service and is always going to be price and selection competitive.
Furthermore, very few golf companies offer a quality private label alternative
for large sites to utilize. We think they are going to be a player in
the market for many years."
TravelGolf.com Operations Manager Nancy Foster said the emergence into
e-commerce field is the best way to increase profits for online publications.
"Not just offering great travel and golf course information, we
want to offer our readers a vast array of golf products and services so
that TravelGolf.com is utilized as a news and product source," said
Nancy Foster, TravelGolf.com operations manager. "TravelGolf.com
is going beyond just selling advertising to achieve profitability. By
successfully selling golf packages and related products, we're maximizing
and diversifying our profit streams."
Among the 15 online regional golf and travel publications that TravelGolf.com
publishes are: ScotlandGolf.com, StAndrewsGolf.com, MyrtlebeachGolf.com,
MichiganGolf.com, GolfFlorida.com, GolfTexas.com, GolfArizona.com, GolfCalifornia.com
and RockiesGolf.com.
